Job summary

Triple-S Steel Holdings, Inc. in Houston is seeking a Leadman to supervise the warehouse, ensure safe methods, and oversee daily operations.

This is an hourly, nonexempt role reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor and may require overtime to meet customer needs. You will move steel materials, train new team members, inspect equipment, read work orders, and coordinate with other departments to maintain inventory flow and productivity.

Qualifications

  • Leadman role supervising and maintaining warehouse order.
  • Nonexempt (hourly) position; overtime may be required.
  • Must follow Triple-S Steel job requirements and Safe Methods of Work.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safe methods of work at all times and notify supervisor of unsafe conditions.
  • Move steel to/from storage or production areas using hand, forklift, overhead crane or other equipment.
  • Train new team members on will calls, deliveries, stock checks, and computer use.
  • Walk warehouse to ensure material is safely stored and exit doors are clear.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment daily; read work orders to determine tasks.
  • Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels; plan work activities with and without supervision.
  • Develop knowledge of product and inventory control techniques; communicate inter-departmentally.
  • Perform basic math operations as part of duties; assist with customer relations as needed.

ABOUT THE POSTION

We are seeking a motivated Leadman responsible for supervising and maintain order in the warehouse. This nonexempt (hourly) position typically reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor. The position requires working in accordance with Triple-S Steel job requirements and Safe Methods of Work. Overtime hours may be required to meet our customers’ needs.

  • Follow Triple-S safe methods of work at all times, and immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
  • Safely and properly move steel to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, by hand, forklift, overhead crane or other equipment. Attach slings, hooks, or other devices to lift material and guide loads; to climb onto vehicles to tie down and release material being loaded. This is continuous daily activity.
  • Train new team members on will calls, deliver orders, check stock, use computers etc.
  • Walking through the warehouse making sure material is safe on racks and exit doors are not blocked.
  • Help check and pull will calls and deliver orders.
  • Maintain equipment daily inspections.
  • Ability to correctly read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.
  • Ability to develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
  • Demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • May be required to demonstrate strong customer relations skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Use hands/fingers to handle, or feel and talk or hear
  • Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
