Position Overview
A growing food manufacturing organization in Frederick, MD is seeking a hands-on PM Warehouse Supervisor to lead afternoon and evening warehouse operations. This position is responsible for ensuring products are safely, accurately, and efficiently staged, handled, and shipped while providing consistent leadership to warehouse employees.
The ideal candidate combines strong floor leadership with a process-driven approach. This person should be comfortable working alongside the team when needed while remaining focused on supervising the entire operation, managing priorities, resolving problems, and maintaining accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily warehouse shift operations, including employee assignments, workload prioritization, follow-up, and shift handoffs.
- Direct outbound shipping activities including product retrieval, staging, load preparation, trailer loading, and shipment verification.
- Coordinate finished goods and freezer inventory movement to support accurate and on-time customer shipments.
- Promote a strong safety culture through pre-shift communication, equipment inspections, safe dock and freezer practices, housekeeping, and corrective follow-up.
- Monitor staffing levels, employee attendance, overtime, scheduling, and workload requirements while escalating potential coverage issues.
- Ensure employees consistently follow established SOPs, standard work instructions, checklists, and warehouse procedures.
- Monitor productivity, shipping performance, completion times, and operational exceptions and communicate results to warehouse leadership.
- Coach employees on performance, safety, productivity, and procedural expectations while documenting corrective action when appropriate.
- Maintain clean and organized warehouse, staging, dock, and storage areas throughout the shift.
- Support inventory accuracy through proper scanning, product-location controls, transaction accuracy, and timely investigation of discrepancies.
- Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Transportation, and other departments to resolve operational issues.
- Cross-train employees and support ongoing employee development to strengthen overall team capabilities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, root-cause problem solving, process changes, technology implementation, and future warehouse expansion.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience within warehouse, distribution, manufacturing logistics, shipping, or a related operations environment preferred.
- 1+ year of team lead or supervisory experience preferred; candidates with demonstrated leadership capabilities may also be considered.
- Food manufacturing, food distribution, cold-storage, freezer, or high-volume shipping experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of warehouse safety, shipping and receiving, inventory control, material handling, and powered industrial equipment.
- Experience working with WMS/ERP platforms, barcode or RF scanning systems, employee timekeeping systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and ADP is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively within refrigerated and freezer environments.
- Ability to work an afternoon/evening schedule and provide occasional weekend or holiday support based on business needs.
