Job summary

Woodland Group in Elizabeth, New Jersey is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. You will lead a team, coordinate with carriers, and partner with management to meet safety and productivity targets.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of warehousing experience, preferably with cargo handling in freight forwarding, and a commitment to health and safety within a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of warehousing experience, preferably with cargo handling in freight forwarding.
• Experience coordinating with carriers and customers.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards in a warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Use space and equipment efficiently while meeting quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives.
• Coordinate the use of computerised systems where necessary.
• Respond to and deal with customer, supplier and transport companies communication by email and telephone.
• Assist with planning future capacity requirements.
• Work with the Warehouse manager to organise the training of staff, as well as monitor their performance and progress.
• Motivate, organise and encourage teamwork within the department to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded.
• Communicate with the Warehouse Manager and team on a daily basis as to department requirements and pressures.
• Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the warehouse
• Plan, prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule including but not limited to loading, packing, wrapping and labelling.
• Receive and process warehouse stock products including but not limited to picking, unloading, labelling and storing.
• Complete any other tasks as required for the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
• Plan Daily Airfreight shipments for the day along with liaise with office staff to ensure trucking is scheduled for the day.
• Monitor equipment levels and order accordingly
• Work with airfreight Team Lead and Screening Supervisor to ensure daily airfreight is loaded and screened
• Ensure fulfilment orders are being received, picked and packed in a timely manner
• Liaise with coordinators to plan for current and future projects and capacity
• Work with the Elizabeth management team to continually improve processes and business performance;
• Support changes in the role necessary to take the department and business forward; and
• Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and/or those set monthly or quarterly.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor must maintain strong working relationships with the operational teams along with the Warehouse staff. The Warehouse Supervisor will assist with overseeing the day to day operation of the warehouse. Have first-hand involvement in the control and use of the warehouse facilities and staff ensuring the efficient and safe receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
