Warehouse Supervisor (Cache)
Fire Management
Department of Natural Resources
Hourly Wage: $15.74/Temporary/Full-Time
Incumbent is responsible for receiving, storing, and maintaining a wide assortment of supplies, materials, and equipment. Gathers items for issue and shipment while maintaining a constant inventory of all items. Reviews orders and receipts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Arranges and stores items in consideration of quantity, size, shape, weight, type, and frequency issued. Assignments performed at data central warehouse or a field facility. Performs general maintenance on tools and equipment. Incumbent is subject to an adjusted work week and irregular work hours due to emergencies. Required to work on weekends and holidays as needed. May be assigned on an engine at times to help with suppression duties.
Examples of Work Performed:
Suppression duties as assigned such as Engine Boss, Engine Operator, Dozer Boss and Firefighter 1 or 2.
Receive, organizers, stores, and ships small or bulk orders of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Reviews incoming supply orders. Unloads and examines, counts, sorts, weight, and marks incoming items.
Discrepancies are noted on the order and reported to immediate supervisor.
Supplies are arranged and stored within the warehouse floor plan. As needed, some items are placed on pallets.
For storage purposes, consideration is given item size, shape, weighs, quantity, spoilage, pilferage, and contamination. On regular basis, items are examined for deterioration and damage, and reported to supervisor.
Ensures all fire management equipment, such as pumps, power saws, light plants are properly stored winter month. During fire season, ensures equipment is readily available in good condition for use. Sharpens shovels/ Pulaskis, changes oil, paints tools and equipment, cleans and rolls fire hose.
Receives requisitions to withdraw items from stock.
Checks for availability and prepares goods for shipment.
Maintains freights handling equipment, checks fuel, oil, tires, and batteries.
Maintains warehouse to ensure it is clean and organized.
May Supervise assigned staff.
Utilizes a forklift to load, unload and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment.
Abide by Yakama Nation Rules and Regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic firefighting and suppression related duties.
Knowledge of warehouse operating policies, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and practices.
Knowledge of basic purchasing policies and procedures.
Knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures.
Knowledge of filing procedures and practices to manage a record keeping system.
Knowledge of Yakama Nation road system and landmarks.
Ability to work long hours under stress during fire emergencies.
Ability to read maps.
Ability to use a computer and basic computer software, preferably Word and Excel.
Ability to apply general mathematics.
Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
Ability to work independently and productively.
Ability to assemble data and prepare reports accurately and timely.
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, i.e., lift 50 pounds repetitively during workday.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to communicate effectively on a two-way radio system.
Ability to operate a forklift and use a hand truck.
Minimum Requirements:
High School or equivalent.
One year warehouse work related experience involving inventory, stocking, receiving, and delivering.
Must be able to drive a standard shift vehicle.
Required to take and pass the annual firefighter physical exam.
Work is performed primarily in warehouse setting. During peak activity and fire emergencies, there is an increase in radio traffic, ringing phones, foot traffic, shipping, receiving and multiple conversations, all contributing to high noise levels, anxiety, pressure, stress, and irregular breaks and mealtimes.
Must be able to cope with meeting periods and changing priorities.
Incumbent is required to work weekends and holidays during fire season.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
