Job summary

UNFI, North America’s premier grocery wholesaler, is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor in Joliet, IL. You will lead a fast-paced warehouse team, supervise shipping/receiving, and ensure accurate inventory, safety, and compliance.

The role focuses on optimizing processes, using WMS systems, coordinating with other departments, and driving continuous improvement. Strong supervisory, communication, and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of warehousing operations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to read computerized reports and use basic MS Office.
• Focus on safety, inventory control and process optimization.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and supervises shipping/receiving associates.
• Controls production standards, accuracy of shipments and receiving, using proper accuracy programs and systems.
• Processes store returns and return to vendors using proper Company policies.
• Coordinates with Inventory Control on slotting, product rotation and space allocation.
• Conducts daily crew meetings to discuss safety, productivity and accuracy.
• Communicates with Transportation on the flow and receipt of backhauls.
• Supervises scheduling of inbound load appointments.
• Responsible to sign for, sort and distribute inbound, overnight carrier and mail service deliveries.
• Walks warehouse daily to ensure safety, security, sanitation and pest control codes, laws, and policies are maintained.
• Develops and maintains good working relationships with all departments.

What does it mean to be a part of our Warehouse Supervisor team?

Our Warehouse Supervisor team oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring that goods are stored, handled, and dispatched efficiently. They are responsible for leading and motivating a fast-paced team, optimizing processes, maintaining safety standards, ensuring inventory accuracy, and utilizing WMS systems for reporting and order management. This role involves coordinating with other departments, overseeing shipping, and receiving activities, and implementing strategies for inventory control. Warehouse Supervisors also ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements. Our supply chain at UNFI is focused on providing superior service, quality and efficiency, improving every day to meet customers’ unique needs.

Job Requirements

• Possess strong general knowledge of all warehousing operations
• Possess good supervisory skills and the ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results
• Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to read and interpret computerized reports
• Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities
• Possess the ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions
• Basic computer skills required and personal computer experience helpful, with word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available

Compensation

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
