Job summary

Shorr Packaging Corp. seeks a Warehouse Supervisor in Des Moines, IA to lead daily warehouse operations with a strong focus on safety, quality and service.

The role involves supervising hourly staff, managing inventory, and coordinating inbound/outbound shipments while ensuring compliance with company policies and food safety objectives. The candidate will utilize ERP/WMS systems, drive continuous improvement and support value-added services, including kitting and packaging tasks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma minimum; some college or technical school preferred.
• Minimum 3 years related warehouse management/supervisory experience.
• Microsoft Office with emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience with ERP or WMS systems.
• SQF experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train, develop and lead hourly employees to ensure efficient and cost-effective operation.
• Maintain safety, regulatory compliance and a safe, organized facility.
• Ensure cross-training of warehouse personnel.
• Oversee inventory control, cycle counts, and space utilization.
• Coordinate picking, receiving, put-away, packing and shipping; ERP entries and reporting.
• Lead on-floor operations 70% of the time beside team members.
• Collaborate across departments to meet customer requirements.

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for warehouse operation and supervision of team members with emphasis on safety, quality, and service. Accountable for achieving company objectives, productivity standards and cost control goals. Coordinate all activities including picking and shipping, receiving and put away, inventory control, cycle-counting, value-added services, and ensure customer requirements are met.

Responsibilities

• Train, develop and lead hourly employees to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation
• Maintain strong adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements. Provide a safe, organized and clean facility
• Ensure cross-training of all warehouse personnel
• Focus on continuous improvement and make recommendations to improve operations in areas such as safety, process flow, space utilization/layout, inventory accuracy and value-added services
• Responsible for building and warehouse maintenance and for procurement of warehouse supplies
• Manage inventory control activities with emphasis on space utilization and monthly cycle count expectations
• Responsible for the value-added services that may include kitting, assembly, band saw slitting, and carton printing
• Acting warehouse coordinator and responsible for scheduling inbound & outbound shipments, receiving and shipping documents, ERP system entry, reporting, process returns, sales and customer service inquiries and other duties as assigned
• Position is a working warehouse manager role that requires 70% of time on the floor processing transactions which involves working alongside team members
• Deal effectively across all levels of the organization; solve problems between warehouse and other departments. Collaborative approach and shares decision making process with team
• Assure adequate resources are available to meet food safety objectives.
• Lead and supervise warehouse staff members while carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000 per year.
