Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is hiring a Warehouse Associate to support fast-paced donation processing and merchandise preparation for our 21 area stores in Maryland. You will sort items on conveyors, move them to totes and carts, and help keep the warehouse safe and organized.

Required six months in a warehouse, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, read and follow basic instructions, and communicate clearly with teammates.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Sort items on a conveyor belt and load items into totes, carts, gaylords, and dollies in a timely manner.
• Place non-sellable merchandise in appropriate waste containers.
• Maintain a pace to meet daily piece processing quotas.
• Follow safety practices and report hazards or injuries to the manager on duty.
• Keep the work area clean and organized at all times.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Sort items on a conveyor belt and load the items from machines to totes, carts, gaylord’s and dollies in a timely manner.
• Places non-sellable merchandise in the appropriate waste containers.
• Maintains a pace at which one is able to meet daily quota for pieces processed
• Follows good safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
• Keeps the work area clean and organized at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with warehouse cleanup/organizing as needed.
• Maintains a professional appearance adhering to Goodwill uniform standards
• Provides excellent service to Goodwill’s donors and retail customers
• Performs other duties as directed

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of six months of previous work experience in a warehouse environment
• Ability to perform basic math
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with other associates
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling and climbing for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours - per 8 hour shift)
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working in a warehouse environment
• Previous experience working with sorting merchandise
• Basic computer skills
• Multilingual with fluency in English
