Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a dedicated team member to support inventory management and donation processing in a fast-paced retail setting. You will sort, process, and prepare donated merchandise for display and sale, ensuring items meet quality and pricing standards while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Ideal candidates will have basic math, be able to read and follow instructions, and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Requires basic math skills.
  • Able to read, write, and understand simple instructions.
  • Able to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lbs for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work up to 7 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

  • Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor.
  • Stays abreast of brand names, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
  • Prepare items for the sales floor. Evaluate items to determine quality, pricing, value and salability.
  • Counts number of items processed and records on official log.
  • Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quota.
  • Places items on hangers, places hangers on rolling rack, and transports them to the sales floor keeping similar items grouped.
  • Counts pieces of clothing and records on Daily Hanger Report.
  • Places non-sellable merchandise in the appropriate container.
  • Follows good safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
  • Maintains a pace at which one is able to meet required productivity goals (quotas) for pieces processed.
  • Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
  • Assists in the collection and stocking of donated merchandise.
  • Provides excellent service to Goodwill’s donors and retail customers.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Partner with retail team members in a high-energy, fast-paced environment to perform a variety of critical inventory management responsibilities. You’ll sort, process, and prepare donated merchandise for display and sale in your own retail store. Our shoppers will love you!

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  1. Ability to perform basic math.
  2. Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
  4. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling and climbing for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours – per 8 hour shift).
  5. Ability to lift max of 25 lbs pounds frequently.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. A minimum of six months of previous work experience.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
  4. Previous experience working with merchandise pricing.
  5. Basic computer skills.
  6. Multilingual with proficiency in English.
