Job description

Starting Pay: $21.00

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, etc.

This position will be paid through Rifle Works temporary agency for the probationary period of 3 to 9 months.

This position will work weekdays 10/hour shifts Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and will be expected to work weekend shifts as backfill.


BASIC FUNCTION

To ensure quality customer service by efficiently operating the shipping and receiving department.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cooperate with the HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) manager to implement all regulatory requirements for warehouse operations.
  2. Efficiently manage incoming and outgoing trucks on multiple docks while working closely with drivers and warehouse personnel.
  3. Maintain accurate records of inventory and shipments.
  4. Complete appropriate paperwork for deliveries and submit to management each day.
  5. Complete customer documentation accurately and completely.
  6. Ensure drivers sign in, acknowledge procedures, and verify information provided.
  7. Prepare shipments to include boxing materials, labeling with appropriate shipping information, and completing relevant paperwork.
  8. Verify quantities of deliveries and merchandise lot numbers by comparing merchandise to packing slips.
  9. Visually inspect deliveries for damage and notify management of discrepancies.
  10. Communicate delivery/shipment problems to customer service and management promptly.
  11. Visually inspect outbound trailers for debris, odors, and general cleanliness.
  12. Comply with company policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
  13. Always maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

Degree: High School diploma or GED and any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must have a valid Colorado driver's license.


EXPERIENCE

Prior experience working with the public in a fast-paced environment is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic understanding of systems, operations, packaging, and other facilities operations.
  • Basic record keeping, report preparation, filing methods, and records management techniques.
  • General office procedures, policies, and practices, as well as basic knowledge of computer and other general office equipment.

Skill in:

  • Basic understanding of warehouse facility operations.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Using a PC with basic level proficiency in document/file management, word processing, database management, email usage, and Internet browsers.
  • Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary. Communicating clearly and effectively in English, orally and in writing.
  • Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments independently.
  • Using tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within established guidelines.

Mental Abilities:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible.
  • Ability to give clear concise instruction.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and so forth.
  • Ability to maintain a courteous and helpful manner in dealing with employees and with the public.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

  • Simple office equipment; equipment requiring involved setup, adjustments, and operational procedures (e.g., personal computer, scanners, and digital copier, printer).
  • Hand and power tools, specialty tools. Heavy- and light-duty equipment and vehicles, two-way radio, cellular phone, PDA.
  • Software: MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Internet Explorer, Adobe, Great Plains.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • While performing the job's essential functions, the employee must frequently walk, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Use close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work is performed frequently in both outdoor and indoor environments. Outdoor environments include exposure to summer and winter temperatures. The work environment occasionally involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.
