Job description

The Warehouse Operations Manager will lead and manage all warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory movement, order fulfillment, picking, packing, shipping, and overall warehouse efficiency.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong player-coach mentality. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading from the warehouse floor—supervising, coaching, developing, and supporting employees while stepping in wherever necessary to ensure operational objectives are achieved.

A key component of this role is the ability to implement, launch, train employees on, and effectively utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS). The ideal candidate has successfully implemented or launched these systems in a previous organization and understands how to leverage technology to improve warehouse accuracy, productivity, inventory control, and transportation efficiency.

The Warehouse Operations Manager must also have prior experience opening, relocating, or launching a warehouse facility, including developing processes, coordinating resources, establishing workflows, training employees, and successfully transitioning operations with minimal disruption.

This position will support operations across multiple locations, including the company’s West Coast warehouse. Travel will be required as needed, generally no more than quarterly.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

• Lead all daily warehouse operations, including:

• Ensure orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

• Implement warehouse safety stations, programs, and procedures.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operational best practices.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for WMS and TMS platforms.
• Lead system selection, configuration, testing, implementation, launch, and ongoing utilization.
• Develop processes and workflows that maximize system capabilities.
• Train warehouse and operations employees on WMS and TMS processes.

Warehouse Opening & Relocation

• Lead or support the opening of new warehouse facilities.
• Manage warehouse relocations and operational transitions.
• Develop facility layouts, workflows, processes, and operating procedures.
• Coordinate equipment, inventory, staffing, systems, transportation, and other resources required for successful launches.
• Source, establish, and implement appropriate WMS/TMS processes.
• Ensure employees are fully trained on systems and procedures prior to operational go-live.
• Minimize disruption to customers and business operations during facility transitions.
• Ensure new facilities reach expected productivity, accuracy, and service levels quickly.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in warehouse or distribution center operations, including warehouse leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing receiving, shipping, fulfillment, and inventory operations.
• Proven experience interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, and developing warehouse employees.
• Strong experience with both WMS and TMS systems, including:
• System implementation or launch
• Employee training
• Troubleshooting and continuous improvement
• Demonstrated experience opening, relocating, or launching a warehouse facility.
• Strong understanding of warehouse processes, inventory control, transportation, and order fulfillment.
• Proven ability and willingness to lead from the warehouse floor.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work extended hours when business conditions require.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support multiple warehouse locations, including the West Coast facility.
