Job summary

Used Cardboard Boxes Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Shift Lead to oversee the front docks, ensure safety, and keep inventory organized. The role involves unloading/loading trailers, enforcing standards, and coordinating with production staff to maintain smooth operations.

The position offers a pay range of $20.00–$25.00 per hour and a typical Mon-Fri schedule from 8:00am to 5:00pm CT, with opportunities for growth and a performance-based bonus structure.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Experience: At least 5 years of warehouse or manufacturing experience, 2+ years lead experience in manufacturing or warehouse company

Responsibilities

• Daily Production Planning: Discuss daily production needs with the production manager
• Staffing Management & Training: Ensure proper staffing and provide coaching and on-the-floor training
• Forklift Coordination: Direct forklift drivers and keep them on task
• Trailer Status Updates: Communicate trailer status to minimize downtime
• Paperwork Management: Complete and submit required load sheets
• Driver Coordination: Coordinate with OTR driver in dock 1
• Safety Leadership: Enforce PPE policies and safety protocols
• Performance Monitoring: Ensure quotas met and coach underperforming employees
• End-of-Shift Setup: Prepare for tote teams and sorters to prevent delays

Warehouse Shift Lead is responsible for the smooth operation of the front docks. This includes safety as well as production. The Shift Lead keeps the inventory organized and the employees set up with material to sort. The individual will unload, and load trailers as directed. This individual will enforce all company/industry rules, policies and standards to a crew of production workers and will plan ahead so his area and teams are working in a safe manner.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Shift: Mon-Fri (8:00am - 5:00pm CT)

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Production Planning: Communicate with the production manager at the start of the day to discuss daily production needs
• Staffing Management & Training: Ensure proper staffing on each shift by requesting additional labor or adjusting staff levels based on workflow needs; provide real-time coaching and conduct hands-on, on-the-floor training to improve performance, efficiency, and adherence to standard processes
• Forklift Coordination: Provide directions to forklift drivers, keeping them organized and on task throughout the day
• Trailer Status Updates: Communicate with the production manager throughout the day about the status of each trailer being loaded or unloaded to minimize downtime
• Paperwork Management: Complete all necessary paperwork, including filling out load sheets, and submit them when trailers are loaded or unloaded
• Driver Coordination: Communicate with the OTR driver in dock 1, providing required paperwork and directions when trailers are loaded or unloaded
• Safety Leadership: Lead efforts to maintain safety, including enforcing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies and upholding safety protocols
• Performance Monitoring: Ensure all employees meet their daily production quotas and provide coaching or additional training to underperforming employees as needed
• End-of-Shift Setup: Ensure forklift drivers put away finished products and set up tote teams, box sorters, and lid sorters with materials before the end of the shift to prevent delays

(Additional Duties: Other duties as they are assigned by the supervisor)
