Summary

This position supports Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture by applying continuous improvement methods to enhance operations. The Engineer will identify and implement changes through data-driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role involves analyzing data, applying engineering methodologies, and using lean tools to identify root causes and eliminate problems. The Engineer will collaborate across all levels of the organization and reports to the Lead Engineer, CI Manager, or Sr. CI Manager.

Essential Functions

1. Collect data, perform statistical analysis, map and document processes, identify gaps, and implement process improvements. Develop and execute continuous improvement plans to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
2. Manage and complete CI and steady-state engineering projects, support certifications, identify automation opportunities, and interact with management and customers.
3. Develop expertise in engineering methods, lean tools, and quality standards. Coach employees in CI, QA, and lean principles. Apply methodologies like product slotting, labor standards, layout optimization, data analysis, and resource modeling to improve operations.
4. Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, guiding process owners in lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
5. Provide regular reports on data and progress, and recommend strategies for inventory and supply chain improvements.

Additional Responsibilities

• Design, monitor, and maintain the QMS based on standards.
• Implement and oversee corrective actions, support compliance, and perform QA functions during start-ups or expansions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Skills in system and change implementation, independent work, and team leadership.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau), and SQL/DAX.
• Experience with engineering tools, lean systems, warehouse design tools, and automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years.
• Expertise in MS Office, data visualization, and engineering/lean tools.
• Knowledge of warehouse operations, automation, and logistics systems.
• Certifications like Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ISO/QMS are preferred.
