Summary

This position supports Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture by applying continuous improvement methods to enhance operations. The Engineer identifies and drives change through data-driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role involves leveraging data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to identify and eliminate root causes. It requires interfacing with employees at all levels and reports to the Lead Engineer, CI Manager, or Sr. CI Manager, closely working with Operations Management.

Essential Functions

• Collects data, performs statistical analysis, maps and documents processes, and identifies process gaps. Recommends and implements process improvements, manages CI plans, and drives process improvements to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
• Manages CI and engineering projects to improve business results, supports certifications, and identifies automation projects. Interacts with operations management and customers.
• Develops competency in engineering methods, lean tools, and quality standards. Coaches employees in CI, QA, and Lean principles. Applies methodologies like product slotting, labor standards, layouts, data analysis, and resource modeling.
• Facilitates Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, coaching process owners on lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
• Provides regular data reports to measure progress and makes inventory and supply chain strategy recommendations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and monitors QMS based on standards.
• Implements corrective action systems and supports regulatory compliance.
• Performs QA functions for start-ups or expansions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of engineering and data analysis functions, warehouse design tools, and automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years.
• Expertise in MS Office, data visualization, and database programming preferred.
• Experience with lean systems, warehouse design, and automation tools preferred.
• Certifications like Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS, or APICS are preferred.
