POSITION: Warehouse Purchasing Specialist

REPORTS TO: Warehouse Supervisor

JOB OBJECTIVE: To procure essential materials and supplies that support the operational needs of Easton Utilities through timely, cost-effective purchasing practices. Assist in maintaining an organized, efficient, and secure warehouse by supporting inventory management, maintaining appropriate stock levels, and ensuring accurate inventory controls.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency in basic computer operations, including Microsoft Office, internet/intranet applications, and inventory management systems.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to maintain open, transparent, and effective communication with the Warehouse Supervisor, Easton Utilities leadership, vendors, and employees across departments while building productive working relationships that support collaboration, efficient operations, and informed decision-making.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in each of the following: procurement, inventory management, and warehouse operations. Experience with contract administration, vendor negotiations, and pricing analysis preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within six months of hire.
  • Knowledge of Utility and Communications industry(s) preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in business management, supply chain management or related field (may substitute professional related procurement experience in lieu of degree on a year for year basis).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct procurement activities by researching material needs, sourcing products, obtaining quotations, evaluating pricing, negotiating with vendors, and purchasing materials that support Easton Utilities' operational and project requirements.
  • Prepare and administer procurement documents including contracts, specifications, requests for quotations (RFQs), requests for proposals (RFPs), and other solicitation documents while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships by maintaining regular communication with suppliers, monitoring product availability, evaluating vendor performance, and identifying opportunities to improve quality, service, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities by processing supply orders, monitoring deliveries, maintaining purchasing records, and collaborating with internal departments to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Support inventory management by maintaining accurate inventory records within the inventory management system, assisting with inventory control activities, and partnering with Accounting to ensure accurate inventory accounting.
  • Assist with warehouse operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and accessible warehouse and storage yard, supporting shipping and receiving activities, and helping maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Support forklift operations and warehouse safety by maintaining forklift certification and assisting with employee training and the promotion of safe work practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance procurement, inventory management, warehouse operations, and internal customer service.
  • Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. Perform other related duties as assigned.
