Job description

We are looking for a hands-on, highly organized Warehouse & Production Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our warehouse and production team.

This is a key position within our company and requires someone who can see the big picture while also staying on top of the details. The Warehouse & Production Manager will be responsible for coordinating production, managing inventory, purchasing materials, working with vendors, assisting with job quoting and costing, and making sure orders are completed accurately and on time.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates well, and can solve problems without needing constant direction. The ideal candidate has experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment and is comfortable working with both employees and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the warehouse and production areas.
  • Plan and prioritize production to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Coordinate employees, materials, equipment, and outside vendors to keep work moving efficiently.
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, inventory, material handling, and warehouse organization.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure critical materials and supplies are available when needed.
  • Purchase materials, supplies, and other items required for production.
  • Request pricing from vendors, compare costs and lead times, and issue or manage purchase orders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and outside vendors.
  • Negotiate vendor pricing and identify opportunities to reduce material and purchasing costs.
  • Follow up on purchase orders, backorders, shortages, damaged materials, and late deliveries.
  • Assist with customer quotes and job estimates, including material costs, labor requirements, outside services, freight, and production time.
  • Maintain current material and vendor pricing so quotes reflect accurate costs.
  • Work closely with sales and management to determine job requirements, production schedules, and realistic delivery dates.
  • Track jobs through production and proactively address delays, material shortages, quality issues, or other problems.
  • Supervise and provide direction to warehouse and production employees.
  • Establish clear expectations for productivity, quality, organization, and safety.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and production environment.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Identify and implement improvements to inventory control, purchasing, production flow, and warehouse organization.
  • Help develop and maintain procedures that make our operation more efficient and consistent.
  • Take ownership of operational problems and follow them through to resolution.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience managing or supervising warehouse, production, or similar operations.
  • Experience with purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or vendor management.
  • Experience with job quoting, estimating, costing, or material takeoffs is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs, priorities, and deadlines at the same time.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions independently.
  • Comfortable working with vendors and negotiating pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets, email, and inventory, accounting, or production software.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse and production environment.
  • Forklift experience is preferred.
Additional Information
What We're Looking For

This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of an operation rather than managing from an office all day.

We need someone who notices when inventory is getting low, follows up with a vendor before a late delivery becomes a production problem, makes sure the team knows what needs to get done, and communicates with management when something needs attention.

The right person will be dependable, proactive, organized, and willing to take ownership of the operation. We value someone who can improve systems and processes while still being willing to jump in and help the team when necessary.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position means:

  • Production stays organized and jobs are completed on time.
  • Materials are ordered before they become an emergency.
  • Inventory is accurate and the warehouse stays organized.
  • Quotes are based on accurate material and production costs.
  • Vendors are responsive, competitive, and held accountable.
  • Employees understand their priorities and expectations.
  • Problems are identified early and resolved quickly.
  • Management has clear visibility into production, purchasing, inventory, and upcoming issues.
