Job summary

Parr Lumber Company in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Warehouse Picker to safely pull orders for delivery and keep the warehouse orderly. The role reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and requires accurate picking, RF gun use, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Our customers and community members know that they can rely on us for Legendary Service and quality products.Pay: $20.16 - $24.51 The Picker safely and efficiently pulls orders for delivery and keeps warehouse orderly. This position is important because they help ensure our customers receive their orders accurately and in a timely manner. Directly reports to Warehouse Supervisor. Interacts daily with Warehouse Workers and Management.**Duties and Responsibilities*** Pick orders accurately according to pick tickets* Use RF gun to locate items and complete orders* Organize orders using care and stacking them safely* Manually count items while filling orders* Use basic math to count items within an order, verifying with a calculator* Become familiar with product to recognize overstock* Maintain appropriate level of line items per hour* Complete cycle counts (counting items and adjusting records accurately) as needed* Maintain organization of warehouse while completing regular duties* Perform other related duties as assignedTeamwork* Arrives on time and prepared to work* Adheres to company policies* Good attitude towards necessary tasks i.e.: inventory, cleanup, etc.* Moves with sense of urgency and purpose* Accepts experienced team member’s advice and feedback* Assists other team members with their work when appropriate* Always is adaptable to change* Promotes positive environment by having a cheerful attitude and speaking well of others* Regularly contributes ideas to make things better* Mentors new teammates when possibleCommunication* Consistently reads and follows instructions on pick tickets and posted instructions* Communicates when help is needed (heavy items/tools)* Proactively and positively communicates with all coworkers* Communicates with all coworkers and uses those relationships to solve problems* Demonstrates active listening skills* Consistently participates on team meetings and discussions* Communicates all damage or inconsistencies of inventory received with appropriate team members* Communicates effectively through both oral and written communication to internal and external team members and our vendors* Handles oneself with professionalism during stressful situations* Brings areas of concern in warehouse to management’s attentionSafety* Wears high visibility/proper uniform* Safety gear is always utilized* Looks behind/honks horn when backing/rounding blind corners* Keeps equipment clean* Operates equipment safely* Keeps aisles and exits clear* Demonstrates consistency in following all company safety protocols* Takes proactive responsibility for safety* Strives to be accident free* Minimal product damage* Participates on safety committee as needed* Encourages coworkers to follow best practices with safety* Proactively brings safety issues to the attention of the Manager**Qualifications*** High School Diploma or GED *preferred** OSHA Certified Forklift License *preferred** Ability to speak, write, and read English *required** Knowledge of inventory control principles, practices, and protocols* Knowledge of items carried in inventory* Ability to read and interpret pick tickets* Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment* Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job* Shoes that are puncture resistant, slip resistant, and made of leather or composite material *required*Interpersonal Skills* Ability to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environment.* Demonstrate sound judgment in dealing with sensitive business matters with internal and external customers of all types.
