Job summary

UNFI NorCal Produce in West Sacramento is seeking a warehouse associate to support pallet building, item picking, and safety procedures in a climate-controlled facility handling nuts, fruits, vegetables, and fresh flowers.

The role requires operating a pallet jack, identifying pick locations, and maintaining accuracy in productivity measurements while adhering to safety guidelines. Includes union benefits, 401K, and incentive pay opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year warehouse experience preferred.
• Experience with electrical pallet jack or similar.
• Able to work in 30–35°F environments.
• Capable of lifting 60–100 lbs consistently.
• Good judgment when supervisor may not be available.
• Occasionally pushing, sitting, reaching, climbing, pulling.

Responsibilities

• Inspects assigned jack for safety issues.
• Enters the proper information into the productivity measure.
• Identifies the correct pick location and pick sequence in accordance to the order.
• Pick the correct item and quantity, checking UPCs or item descriptions.
• Places pick labels on the side of the cases.
• Correctly identifies Master Case locations.
• Identifies and immediately reports miss-located products.
• Shrink wraps and labels with correct truck, stop and other required information.
• Stages pallets in appropriate bay.
• Keeps area clean and debris out of work area.
• Immediately informs a supervisor or manager of any potential safety threats.
• Obtains aisle-cleaning assignment.
• Operates pallet jack/pushcart in a safe and efficient manner.
• Reports to supervisor or leave any violation of company policy.
• Builds a stable and well cubed pallet.

Schedule:

• Sundays are mandatory! (Busiest day of the week)
• 2 days back-to-back off during the week with Saturdays always off
• 2PM start time - until work is done
• Fully climate-controlled warehouse – must be ok with chill environment (no freezer, just fridge around 35 degrees) nuts, fruits, veggies, fresh flower etc. are found at this distribution center

Job Overview:

Job requirements:

• Minimum one year warehouse experience preferred
• Experience with electrical pallet jack, or similar
• Ability to select at established minimum rate
• Exposed to temperatures ranging from 30 - 35 degrees Fahrenheit
• Good judgement is required for this position as there may times when direct supervisor may not be immediately available
• Lifting objects weighing from less than 60lbs - 100 lbs. consistently
• Occasionally pushing, sitting, touching, reaching, climbing, pulling and gripping
