Warehouse Operator 1 (Finance)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Must be available for overtime.
- Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
- Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to packing stations or shipping departments.
- Mark materials with identifying information. Open bales, crates, and other containers.
- Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weigh or count items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards. Arrange stock parts in specified sequences for assembly by other workers.
- Operate shipping labeling equipment and UPS machine. Prepare parcels for mailing. Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Complete requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.
- Drive forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
Safety Requirements
Wear safety eye glasses and steel-toed shoes. Follow proper lifting techniques. Participate in hazard communication training. Understand emergency procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, with one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Effectively present information one-on-one to customers, clients, and colleagues.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure, including fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent, and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed or simple written and oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, handle, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch as required. Regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, outside weather, extreme cold, and heat. Usually loud noise level.
