Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Warehouse Operator to maintain stock levels and support production on the shop floor in the United States. You will pull, stage, break down bundles, package material, run daily machines, and confirm work orders in a fast-paced setting.

Candidates should have warehouse experience, be able to use measuring tools, and be comfortable with basic computing. Apprenticeship onboarding is part of the process, with safety and efficiency emphasized throughout.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspections and measurement, attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Some experience in a warehouse and manufacturing setting.
• Forklift/side-loader experience preferred.
• Ability to operate an overhead crane safely preferred.
• Ability to use standard measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, caliper) and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

As a Warehouse Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for maintaining stock levels and production on the shop floor.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Pulling and staging feedstock for production orders


• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer specific orders


• Packaging of material to customer requirements


• Daily machine operation to produce parts to customer specifications


• Work order confirmation on computer


• Operating an overhead crane, forklift, and side loader to move material as needed


• Truck loading/unloading


• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills‑based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills


• Some experience working in a warehouse and manufacturing setting


• Forklift/side‑loader experience preferred


• Ability to safely operate the Overhead crane preferred


• Must be able to accurately use standard measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, and caliper) as well as pneumatic hand tools


• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer


• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility


• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding
