Job summary

Ryerson in Massachusetts is seeking a Warehouse Operator to maintain stock levels and support production on the shop floor. You will pull and stage feedstock, break down bulk bundles, and package material to customer requirements.

You will operate daily machines, confirm work orders, and move materials using an overhead crane, forklift, and side loader. This role includes truck loading/unloading and participation in an apprenticeship onboarding program.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, measurements, attention to detail.
• Experience in warehouse/manufacturing environment.
• Forklift/side-loader experience preferred.
• Ability to operate overhead crane preferred.
• Ability to read measuring tools (tape, micrometer, caliper) and pneumatic tools.
• Pass physical requirements exam.
• Onboarding includes a registered apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

As a Warehouse Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for maintaining stock levels and production on the shop floor.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Pulling and staging feedstock for production orders


• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer specific orders


• Packaging of material to customer requirements


• Daily machine operation to produce parts to customer specifications


• Work order confirmation on computer


• Operating an overhead crane, forklift, and side loader to move material as needed


• Truck loading/unloading


• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills


• Some experience working in a warehouse and manufacturing setting


• Forklift/side-loader experience preferred


• Ability to safely operate the Overhead crane preferred


• Must be able to accurately use standard measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, and caliper) as well as pneumatic hand tools


• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer


• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility


• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding
