Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Supervisor, Warehouse Operations in Ohio to lead a team of 35‑40 associates on pick, pack and ship activities. You will drive safe, efficient operations while achieving productivity and quality goals.

You will monitor performance metrics, coach staff, and coordinate scheduling and equipment maintenance. The role emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration and adherence to regulatory guidelines to ensure on‑time shipments and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED and strong leadership capabilities.
  • 4–8 years of related experience in warehouse operations.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis; ERP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct a team of 35-40 warehouse associates to ensure timely distribution and receipt of products.
  • Monitor productivity standards and enforce corrective actions as needed.
  • Adhere to budgetary guidelines and meet DC objectives while maintaining quality and inventory standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Plan daily staffing to ensure proper coverage for picking, replenishment, and shipping.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and oversee repairs as required.
  • Develop staff through training, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with HR and cross-functional teams to support operations.
  • Make hiring decisions for leads and associates and manage disciplinary actions.

Shift schedule is: 1:00pm - 9:30pm (or until completion) Monday-Friday. Must be available to work overtime as necessary due to business needs.


What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning. Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.


Job Summary

The Supervisor, Warehouse Operations supervises a team of Associates and ensures that pick, pack, and ship operations are safe, efficient, and of high quality. With responsibility for a day or night shift, the Supervisor continually monitors efficiency and quality metrics, assigns work and provides coaching to supervised staff, and addresses a variety of operational issues. The Supervisor directly contributes to Cardinal Health’s customer service reputation by ensuring that shipments are on-time and of high quality, develops the Warehouse Operations talent pool, and enhances operational excellence.


Responsibilities


  • Directs and manages a team of 35-40 warehouse associates to achieve timely distribution and receipt of products and motivate employees to ensure that predetermined productivity and quality standards are achieved.

  • Monitors site productivity standards and holds associates accountable to daily, weekly, monthly metrics; provide timely feedback and initiate corrective action process when needed.

  • Adheres to budgetary guidelines and works to meet Distribution Center objectives and operational goals while maintaining standards pertaining to quality and inventory.

  • Drives and participates in continuous improvement projects and initiatives.

  • Performs daily scheduling of the work force to ensure proper staffing to select, replenish, restock, locate and ship merchandise in a productive and cost-efficient manner.

  • Coordinates maintenance of equipment, guiding both preventive maintenance and coordinating all necessary repairs.

  • Actively engages in employee development, which includes training, coaching, counseling, and performance appraisals.

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams at all levels within the organization, specifically within HR groups daily.

  • Interviews and makes hiring decisions for lead and associate level roles.

  • Maintains general responsibility for disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings; ensure a productive work climate in the warehouse operation.

  • Prepares ad hoc reports, as necessary using Excel (or any other necessary programs).

  • Reviews attendance/PTO records and ensures scheduling is maintained.

  • Holds staff accountable for conducting work in a safe manner while enforcing Cardinal Health compliance and regulations concerning OSHA, DEA, FDA, State and local authorities.

  • Majority of work day is spent on the floor while balancing administrative duties.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience preferred; Bachelor’s degree a plus

  • 4-8 years related experience, preferred

  • Prior experience with continuous improvement projects and initiatives

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Previous experience leading a team

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel (Pivot Tables and spreadsheets)

  • Experience working within ERP’s (SAP or Manhattan) preferred
