Job description

Description

Location: 7th St. and I-10
Job Type: Full-time

Job Salary: DOE / Highly Competitive

About the Role

We are a well-established national logistics and distribution organization operating across a diverse portfolio of essential commercial and consumer goods. While our enterprise has a long history of market leadership, this specific large-scale fulfillment facility is currently facing significant operational and cultural headwinds.

We are not looking for a "caretaker" or a manager to maintain the status quo. This warehouse is actively struggling with high employee turnover, broken operational workflows, and low morale. We need a resilient, change-minded leader to step in, stabilize the facility, rebuild the infrastructure, and champion a positive workplace culture where employees feel valued and supported. If you look at chaos and see an incredible opportunity to orchestrate a major professional comeback, we want to talk to you.

Position Summary Reports To: Regional Operations Manager

Direct Reports: Shift Supervisors, Material Handlers, Drivers, and Office Staff .

The Warehouse Operations Manager oversees all logistical, warehousing, and inventory management functions for a high-volume hub facility. This role is approximately 80% hands-on strategic management and 20% administrative oversight. You will take full ownership of building security, product asset protection, financial budgeting, and—most importantly—the direct rebuilding of the facility's personnel structure and day-to-day workflow.

Key Turnaround & Rebuilding Responsibilities
  • Rebuild Culture & Morale: Shift the workplace climate from stressful to supportive. Build immediate trust with floor staff through active listening, transparent communication, and consistent, fair leadership.
  • Drastically Reduce Turnover: Partner closely with Human Resources to diagnose the root causes of employee churn. Design and execute rapid retention strategies, structured onboarding, and clear career progression milestones.
  • Optimize Facility Layout & Flow: Audit existing bottlenecks and inventory inaccuracies to establish an efficient, smooth physical layout for product movement in and out of the warehouse.
  • Standardize Operational Discipline: Introduce, document, and strictly enforce standardized operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and productivity standards where they are currently lagging.
  • Develop Floor Leadership: Actively mentor, coach, and upskill shift supervisors and team leads. Conduct regular 30/60/90-day reviews for new hires and build individual employee development plans to cultivate internal talent.
  • Financial & Project Management: Prepare capital and operational budgets for the facility. Manage operational expenses strictly to meet financial goals, and oversee strategic priorities such as fleet/equipment maintenance, process improvement initiatives, and potential future warehouse moves.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with the Sales division to ensure field operations are proactive in meeting customer needs, restoring vendor confidence, and promoting a flawless corporate image.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: (Base salary is specific to facility location and factors in experience, licensure, and organizational needs).
  • Highly competitive wages plus an annual performance bonus tied to facility turnaround targets.
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits available your first day on the job.
  • 401(k) plan featuring a generous employer contribution AND company match.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and holiday pay.
  • On-the-job training, skill development support, and tuition reimbursement programs.
  • Corporate employee discount programs.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to use hands and arms to handle tools or reach for freight. The employee must occasionally lift products weighing up to approximately 80 pounds, and handle heavy bulk industrial freight (such as rolling, destacking, or team-lifting items over 70 pounds). Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception.
  • Protective Equipment Required: Steel or composite toe boots (employee-provided), safety vest, harness, seatbelt, and self-retracting lifelines (all safety rigging provided by the employer).
  • Work Environment: Exposure to varying indoor/outdoor weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the facility is usually moderate. Fumes associated with heavy industrial products, automotive parts, and industrial lubricants are prevalent.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business plus 2 years of warehouse/operations management experience, OR a minimum of 6 years of direct warehouse/logistics operations experience.
  • Turnaround Track Record: Proven leadership skills in a supervisory warehouse or operational role, with demonstrable experience stabilizing an underperforming or chaotic logistics environment.
  • Labor Management Expertise: Strong emotional intelligence with a history of motivating workforce teams, improving morale, and measurably lowering labor turnover.
  • Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with material handling, inventory documentation systems, and practical knowledge of applicable computer software, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Financial Acumen: Knowledge of budgeting, operational forecasting, supply contracts, shipping requirements, and financial statement interpretation.
  • Communication & Mobility: Elite problem-solving and communication skills to connect with people at all levels of the organization. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and be willing to travel nationally as required for organizational alignment.
