Job summary

Freight Handlers in Newport, MI is seeking an experienced Warehouse Department Manager to oversee supervisory and management responsibilities within the department. You will assign and coordinate unloading tasks, direct leads, and ensure timely completion of administrative paperwork to report to the corporate office.

Qualifications

• Education not strictly required; skills and experience matter.
• Experience receiving or unloading in a warehouse setting; 1+ years of leadership preferred.
• Knowledge of logistics preferred.
• Must speak and write English clearly.
• Basic math skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
• Leadership skills with ability to supervise people and production.
• Must have valid driver’s license and pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Directs associates to perform operations safely and efficiently.
• Utilizes daily huddles with Associates to ensure procedures and assignments are communicated properly.
• Coordinates work assignments and ensures timely completion.
• Communicates with associates, host management, transportation partners, and leadership to meet performance and safety goals.
• Responsible for hiring, promotions, and terminations of associates.
• Implements changes for performance improvement.
• Maintains safety mindset through daily safety inspections and audits; remedies threats.
• Mentors and trains new associates and future leaders.
