Job summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Materials Handler to support the warehouse area of the Logistics Service at the Central Alabama VA Health Care System. The role covers planning storage, moving stock, and ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials in line with VA requirements.

Expect to operate vehicles, coordinate shipments, and manage space in a large warehouse setting, with standard Monday–Friday hours and potential schedule adjustments as needed.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required for the position.
• Background/security investigation will be conducted.
• Pre-employment physical may be required.
• REAL ID compliant identification is required to work.
• Seasonal influenza vaccination is a program requirement.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning storage and stock arrangement per VA regulations.
• Operate vehicles up to 26,000 GVWR with lift equipment.
• Coordinate inbound/outbound shipments and material placement on docks.
• Receive, store, move hazardous materials per facility regulations.
• Manage space and locations for commodities and equipment groups.
