How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:


The Warehouse Materials Associate I is responsible for all aspects related to incoming freight that is delivered to the Carilion Warehouse. The associate is responsible for performing standard receiving and stocking tasks, such as unloading delivery trucks, sorting items by receiving priority, identifying and documenting damaged deliveries,rotating inventory, storing materials for easy access at primary pick locations, and performing quality assurance (QA) activities.

  • Provides exceptional customer service to requesters / end users, Buyers, and other warehouse teams.
  • Inspects and signs for deliveries. Team member is responsible for noting all shortages and damages to ensure accurate inventory levels. Accuracy also prevents poor patient outcomes and monetary loss for Carilion.
  • Team member is consistent in their communication with the Inventory Team on all shipment discrepancies. Documents in an electronic customer service portal as needed.
  • Works with fellow members of the warehouse team to identify and address items that should be prioritized for receiving (i.e., patient specific, rush and hot orders).
  • Maintains a well-organized delivery record system to prevent the loss of goods and provide documentation of the transfer of liability from one entity to another.
  • Efficiently resolves all order-related inquiries / requests within customer service portal software as needed.
  • Stocks items utilizing the inventory management system. Ensures that items are rotated by date to prevent a negative patient outcome or financial loss. Notifies management of all discrepancies.
  • Accurately and consistently creates and maintains the back stock process. Accurately restocks primary pick locations with backstock materials in first in first out (FIFO), ensuring products are tracked and accessible for picking.
  • Maintains a high level of customer service for warehouse employees and downstream customers by performing scheduled and as-needed QA activities, including inspecting and maintaining the cleanliness of inventory racks, bins, and labels.
  • Escalates item discrepancies, order-delivery inconsistencies, and quality standard exceptions to leadership. Documents and provides communication via email, verbal, and utilizes the electronic customer service portal as needed.
What We Require:


Education: High School Diploma or experience equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.

Experience: Experience in warehouse setting and use of all non-powered and powered equipment to include forklifts and pallet jacks preferred. Familiarity with warehouse requisitioning and order picking preferred.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Valid VA Driver’s License with positive driving record required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent organizational skills to include critical thinking, attention to detail interpersonal skills, and understanding of the English language (both written and oral). Must be proficient in the use of standard warehouse equipment including forklift, cherry pickers, and power jacks. Must be customer service oriented. Proficiency in basic computerization skills and demonstrated ability to utilize (or learn to utilize) inventory management systems/software, email communication system, and customer service portal.
