Job description

1. Material Handling and Movement:

• Receive and inspect goods: Unload materials from trucks, check items for damage or defects, and ensure that the correct items are delivered.

• Move materials within the warehouse: Use manual labor, forklifts, pallet jacks, or other machinery to move products and materials to appropriate storage areas.

• Load and unload shipments: Assist in loading and unloading of goods to and from storage containers or trucks.

2. Inventory Management:

• Stock products: Ensure that materials are properly stored and stacked in the warehouse following safety protocols.

• Conduct regular inventory checks: Help with cycle counting, stock audits, and reconciliation to ensure accurate inventory records.

• Track product movement: Maintain accurate records of the items’ location and movement within the warehouse system.

3. Equipment Operation:

• Forklift operation: Operate forklifts, reach trucks, or other heavy equipment to move large quantities of materials.

• Maintain equipment: Perform basic maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, or conveyor systems to ensure their proper functioning.

4. Safety and Compliance:

• Follow safety guidelines: Ensure all material handling is performed in accordance with safety protocols to minimize risk of accidents.

• Maintain cleanliness: Keep the warehouse clean and free from debris to prevent accidents and create a safe working environment.

• Adhere to regulations: Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other workplace safety standards.

5. Order Preparation and Shipping:

• Pick orders: Retrieve materials based on pick lists or customer orders for packaging and shipping.

• Pack materials: Prepare items for shipment, including labeling, packaging, and sealing to ensure safe transport.

• Prepare shipping documents: Complete necessary paperwork, including packing lists and shipping forms.

6. Team Collaboration:

• Work with supervisors: Communicate effectively with warehouse managers and supervisors to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

• Collaborate with other staff: Work with team members in receiving, inventory control, and shipping to ensure all tasks are completed on time.

7. Reporting and Record Keeping:

• Document material movements: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions and material flow using warehouse management systems (WMS).

• Provide reports: Assist in generating reports related to stock levels, shipping, and receiving.

8. General Maintenance and Housekeeping:

• Clean the warehouse: Sweep floors, clean storage areas, and maintain an organized environment.

• Ensure equipment is in good working order: Regularly check for any malfunctions or wear and tear on warehouse machinery.
