Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking a Warehouse Material Handler in Houma, LA to safely move, store, and distribute raw materials and finished products. You will support production schedules by ensuring timely material delivery and maintaining inventory accuracy.

Responsibilities include operating forklifts and pallet jacks, performing cycle counts, and coordinating with production teams to ensure material flow while adhering to safety protocols. Outdoor environmental conditions apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of material handling or warehousing experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
• Knowledge of inventory control and warehouse procedures.
• Ability to read work orders, shipping documents and material specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to organize and ensure the steady flow of materials, parts and products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Receive, store and distribute materials to designated areas.
• Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks or other equipment.
• Deliver materials to production lines in a timely and accurate manner, including kits.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle counts as needed.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to meet material needs.
• Organize and maintain storage areas to optimize space and accessibility.
• Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous materials and equipment.
• Assist in packaging, labeling and preparing shipments for delivery.
• Communicate shortages or discrepancies to supervisor.
• Keep work areas clean and free from hazards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
