JOB SUMMARY
This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing work in metals processing and distribution within the Reliance family of companies. Work involves specialized equipment operation and supporting functions, requiring practical knowledge of the operations, materials, facilities, and methods employed by Reliance companies in metals processing and distribution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for moving inventory or equipment, filling customer orders, pulling materials from racks, unloading incoming materials, loading trucks and/or customer vehicles, and helping maintain the warehouse.
- Receives, stocks, and returns items to inventory locations.
- Pulls and assembles orders based on work/shipping orders or documentation.
- Tags materials for proper identification and completes all required documentation.
- Moves materials from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane.
- Operates trucks for loading and unloading trailers.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Sorts and places materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, or product code.
- Performs spot checks on inventory, including daily or ad hoc checks for proper tagging, as directed.
- Reports irregularities to supervisors for guidance.
- Restocks materials as needed.
- Ensures compliance with safety and quality standards.

Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in warehousing and material handling.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Ability to obtain certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
- Clear oral and written communication skills, including legible handwriting.
- Manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.
- Ability to read and understand written instructions related to work tasks.
- Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and using measurements of length, width, height, and weight for calculations.
- Basic arithmetic skills, including working with decimals and fractions.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Sound decision-making abilities based on knowledge, experience, and judgment.
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
