Warehouse Material Handler

Full Time Regular Indirect Hourly Plattsburgh, NY, US

Salary Range: $17.00 To $19.00 Annually

DEPARTMENT: Warehouse

REPORTS TO: Warehouse Supervisor

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Material handlers in Put-away are responsible for safely and accurately moving production output from Stage locations into Warehouse Racking using Stand Up/Reach forklifts and sit-down lifts as needed to load recycled material.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works Safely always.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Maintain 5S & participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Able to drive sit-down, Stand up and other industrial vehicles.
  • Responsible for timely put away of finished and raw material into their designated area.
  • Analyze production scheduled to determine timely transport of materials from staging area.
  • Validates load is centered and properly stacked.
  • Secures pallets for transport. Using tape, shrink wrap, ETC…
  • Reports damaged product and shortages to supervisor.
  • Assist in rack repair and installation as needed.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy by routinely performing cycle counts.
  • Completes forms when required.
  • Supports team members as needed.
  • Seeks assistance from direct supervisor/manager as needed.

SKILLS

  • Ability to perform basic Math.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Efficient individual with excellent time management skills.
  • Result oriented.
  • High school diploma or GED*
  • Prior experience as a forklift operator
  • Previous warehouse experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety Responsibilities:

  • Strictly adheres to plant safety, housekeeping, and 5S efforts
  • Understands, identifies, and corrects safety hazards

    • Food Safety Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and verifies activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials are coming in and out of the facility meet consumer safety and quality standards.
  • Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures
  • Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured products to the location’s Food Safety Team Leader and submits an appropriate incident report

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required to walk, sit and/or stand for up to 12 hours per day.
  • May be required to reach with hands and arms.
  • As needed, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs and lift to 50 lb
