Job summary

Johnson Brothers in North Kingstown, RI is seeking a Warehouse Manager I to lead our night warehouse operations. The role requires hands-on leadership to ensure accurate, on-time orders, safe practices, and continuous improvement on a 4-day, 4pm-onward schedule.

You will supervise the night shift, coordinate with day shift, manage staffing and scheduling, and ensure OSHA/DOT compliance while maintaining a clean, organized warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of warehouse or distribution leadership experience.
• Experience leading a night shift preferred.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills.
• Understanding of OSHA and DOT safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the night shift warehouse team to achieve productivity, accuracy, and safety goals.
• Oversee nightly order selection, truck loading, and preparation for delivery to ensure on-time and complete shipments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
• Coach, train, and mentor team members—setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback.
• Monitor key performance indicators and partner with day shift leadership to ensure smooth shift transitions and consistent performance.
• Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and workflow to meet nightly operational demands.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
• Partner with other departments—including Delivery and Inventory Control—to align operations and resolve issues quickly.
