Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation's Indianapolis Distribution Center seeks a Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Lead to own SAP EWM and related warehouse technology. You will bridge warehouse operations and IT, ensuring system stability and process improvements.

Responsibilities include testing, UAT, data reporting with Power BI and SQL, and coordinating upgrades while mentoring teams; 3+ years in WMS and SAP EWM required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years in WMS within distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain
• 3+ years experience in SAP EWM and core warehouse workflows (receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, replenishment, inventory control)
• Experience with SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA environments preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary site business owner and functional SME for SAP EWM and related warehouse technology platforms
• Act as the functional bridge between operational needs and system configuration/IT capabilities in SAP
• Support system integrations and cross-functional workflows across SAP EWM, SAP ECC / S/4HANA, TMS, YMS, ORM, and reporting tools
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and standard process discipline
• Coordinate system configuration, testing, validation, UAT, and deployment activities for upgrades and site enhancements
• Provide front-line functional support for warehouse system incidents and operational disruptions
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to SAP EWM transactions, inventory synchronization, and integration messages
• Collaborate with IT, AMS, developers and vendors to resolve defects and minimize downtime
• Communicate outages, planned maintenance, and risks to site leadership and operations
• Lead requirements gathering, business process design, test plan execution, and post-implementation validation
• Maintain SOPs, system requirements docs, and user training materials
• Develop and maintain warehouse reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics using SAP reporting, Power BI, and SQL queries
• Oversee site hardware administration for RF scanners, devices, printers, and workstations
• Provide user training and ongoing support to improve adoption and discipline

Position Overview

The Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Lead serves as the primary site business owner and subject matter expert for SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and related warehouse technology solutions at the Indianapolis Distribution Center. This role acts as a functional Business Analyst—bridging the gap between warehouse operational requirements and technical IT/SAP solution capabilities.

The WMS Lead is responsible for supporting system stability, troubleshooting functional/integration issues, leading continuous process improvement initiatives, testing system enhancements, and ensuring technology solutions support overall operational excellence, inventory accuracy, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Systems Management & Business Analysis

• Serve as the primary site business owner and functional subject matter expert for SAP EWM and related warehouse technology platforms.
• Act as the functional bridge between operational business needs and system configuration/IT capabilities in SAP.
• Support system integrations and cross-functional workflows across SAP EWM, SAP ECC / S/4HANA, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Yard Management Systems (YMS), Order Management Systems, and operational reporting tools.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, standard process discipline, and technology modernization.
• Coordinate system configuration, testing, validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment activities for system upgrades and site enhancements.

Incident Resolution & Operational Support

• Provide front-line functional support for warehouse system incidents, queue/transaction errors, printing issues, and operational disruptions.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to SAP EWM transactions, inventory synchronization, integration messages, and warehouse hardware execution (RF handheld scanners, tablets, printers).
• Collaborate with internal IT, Application Maintenance Support (AMS) teams, developers, and third-party vendors to resolve complex technical defects and minimize operational downtime.
• Communicate system outages, planned maintenance, and risks to site leadership and warehouse operations.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

• Partner with warehouse and supply chain leadership to identify and deliver continuous improvement projects that reduce manual effort, eliminate operational defects, and increase labor productivity.
• Lead requirements gathering, business process design, test plan execution, and post-implementation validation for system change requests.
• Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), system requirements documentation, and user training materials.

Reporting, Analytics & Technology Administration

• Develop and maintain warehouse reporting, dashboards, and operational performance metrics using SAP reporting, Power BI, and SQL queries.
• Oversee site hardware administration for RF scanners, mobile devices, barcode printers, and warehouse workstations.
• Provide user training and ongoing support to warehouse teams to improve system adoption and operational discipline.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Logistics, Business Administration, Computer Science.
• 3+ years Experience supporting Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) within a distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain environment.
• 3+ years in SAP EWM and core warehouse workflows (receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, replenishment, inventory control).

Preferred

• Experience with or exposure to SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and data analysis skills using Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Advanced functional expertise in SAP EWM configuration and integration troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting SAP Transportation Management (TM), Yard Management Systems (YMS), and warehouse execution tools.
• Familiarity with Power BI, SQL queries, ServiceNow, or Jira.
• Experience managing RF scanning technologies, industrial printing, and warehouse hardware.
• Strong background in Distribution Center (DC) operations, business analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

Thisposition may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
