Job summary

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Label Line Lead to safely coordinate daily label line operations, ensure accurate labeling and coding, and support interdepartmental collaboration with Warehouse, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production teams.

The role requires leading the line, training new employees, reviewing labels and product codes, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing/warehouse experience preferred.
  • Experience with labeling, packaging, or product coding is a plus.

Purpose of Position:

Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Warehouse Label Line Lead.

The Warehouse Label Line Lead is responsible for safely coordinating and performing daily label line operations to ensure finished product is accurately labeled, coded, inspected, and processed in accordance with production schedules and established safety, quality, and productivity standards. This position serves as the working lead for label line employees by coordinating daily activities, providing training and operational guidance, and supporting efficient operation of label line equipment.

The Warehouse Label Line Lead works closely with Warehouse, Stock Control, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production personnel to ensure materials are available, product and labeling requirements are accurate, equipment operates effectively, and production issues are addressed timely. Performance is measured through safety, quality, labeling accuracy, equipment performance, productivity, documentation accuracy, and adherence to established procedures.

Accountabilities:

  • Label Line Operations & Coordination
  • Participate in shift change meetings to ensure effective communication of operational priorities, production schedules, and outstanding issues.
  • Conduct pre-startup inspections of label line machinery and verify operational readiness.
  • Set up label line equipment and confirm correct product and label configuration prior to production.
  • Verify production jobs in TrakSYS and ensure alignment with established production schedules.
  • Coordinate daily label line activities and provide work direction to employees based on operational priorities.
  • Operate label line equipment as required and provide break or operational coverage when needed.
  • Monitor production flow and identify opportunities to improve line performance and efficiency.
  • Product, Labeling & Coding Accuracy
  • Verify product codes and ensure printers are properly configured and operating correctly.
  • Review bright stock labels, depalletizer labels, case labels, and other applicable labeling materials for accuracy.
  • Monitor product code changes throughout the labeling process to ensure correct identification and traceability.
  • Inspect product, label condition, placement, coding, and packaging to ensure established quality standards are achieved.
  • Identify and report issues involving can condition, labeling, coding, barcodes, or documentation.
  • Perform product rework and sorting activities as required to maintain quality standards.
  • Materials & Inventory Control
  • Coordinate with Stock Control to ensure required labels, packaging materials, and other supplies are available for scheduled production.
  • Plan material requirements for upcoming product and label changeovers.
  • Ensure accurate material scanning and proper inventory placement within designated label line locations.
  • Complete required label line documentation accurately and submit records to Inventory personnel for review and reconciliation.
  • Identify and communicate material shortages, inventory discrepancies, or other concerns that could affect production.
  • Equipment Operation & Troubleshooting
  • Monitor label line equipment performance and make adjustments within established operating standards.
  • Clear equipment jams and troubleshoot minor mechanical or operational issues to maintain production flow.
  • Inspect equipment and initiate corrective maintenance notifications when repair needs are identified.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance personnel during equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and planned maintenance activities.
  • Identify recurring equipment or production issues and communicate opportunities for corrective action or improvement.
  • Follow established equipment operating procedures and manufacturer requirements.
  • Serve as the working lead for assigned label line employees and provide day-to-day operational direction.
  • Train and onboard new employees in label line equipment operation, standard work, quality requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Reinforce established operating procedures and communicate daily priorities and expectations to employees.
  • Support employees with operational questions, equipment issues, and production requirements.
  • Escalate employee performance, attendance, safety, or conduct concerns to the appropriate Supervisor.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, communication, and safe work practices throughout the label line operation.
  • Safety, Food Safety & Quality
  • Follow and reinforce all company safety policies, GMPs, food safety requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Verify equipment guards and other required safety devices are properly installed before equipment operation.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout requirements and never reach into or access operating machinery.
  • Maintain awareness of forklift traffic, moving equipment, pinch points, hot surfaces, and other workplace hazards.
  • Wear all required PPE including hearing, head, eye, hand, and foot protection as applicable.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and clutter-free work areas to minimize slip, trip, and other workplace hazards.
  • Report injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, product concerns, and equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance on quality events, product concerns, and corrective actions.

Operational Support

  • Support Warehouse, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Inventory teams with operational activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, neat, and legible records and documentation.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout assigned work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on operational and business needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to safely operate label line machinery and related production equipment.
  • Ability to understand production schedules, product codes, labels, and operational documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify labeling, coding, product, and quality discrepancies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment and operational issues within established procedures.
  • Ability to provide work direction, training, and operational guidance to other employees.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Warehouse, Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Inventory personnel.
  • Ability to work day or night shifts, overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as required by production needs.
  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, labeling, or packaging experience.
  • Previous lead or employee training experience.
  • Experience operating automated labeling, packaging, or material handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with TrakSYS or similar manufacturing production systems.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
