Job summary

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation and accuracy of Springfield warehouse.
• Maintain inventory records, counts, reconciliation, movements of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Receive, inspect, document, organize, and store incoming materials and equipment.
• Coordinate incoming shipments and deliveries; ensure proper documentation.
• Monitor inventory levels and address shortages or discrepancies; escalate as needed.
• Review project requirements and stage materials for scheduled field work.
• Ensure field personnel have project-specific materials and equipment for scheduled work.

Position Summary

The Warehouse & Inventory Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operation and overall accountability of our Springfield, MO warehouse. As the primary onsite resource for the warehouse function, this position is responsible for maintaining an organized, efficient, and well-controlled operation, including receiving and shipments, inventory and material control, equipment accountability, material storage and movement, and overall warehouse organization.

This position is expected to take ownership of inventory accuracy and warehouse processes, monitor material levels and operational needs, identify and resolve discrepancies, and address issues before they impact operations. The Warehouse & Inventory Specialist works closely with Operations and field personnel to ensure materials and equipment are properly received, tracked, stored, staged, and available when needed.

Responsibilities also include supporting field operations by reviewing project requirements and preparing the appropriate materials and equipment for scheduled work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable independently managing multiple priorities in a hands-on warehouse environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation, organization, accuracy, and overall functionality of the Springfield warehouse.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking, counts, reconciliation, and the movement, assignment, and return of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Receive, inspect, document, organize, and properly store incoming solar, roofing, electrical, construction, and other materials and equipment.
• Coordinate incoming shipments and deliveries, ensuring materials are accurately received, documented, and routed or stored appropriately.
• Monitor inventory levels and operational needs to identify shortages, damaged materials, discrepancies, or other concerns and address or elevate issues as needed.
• Review project requirements and supporting documentation to identify and stage materials, equipment, and supplies needed for scheduled field work.
• Ensure field personnel have the appropriate project-specific materials and equipment needed for scheduled work.
• Coordinate with Operations and field personnel regarding upcoming projects, schedule changes, inventory needs, shipments, deliveries, and material availability.
• Utilize inventory systems and related computer systems to maintain accurate and timely warehouse records.
• Manage the return and organization of unused, excess, damaged, or project-specific materials following completion of field work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and operationally efficient warehouse and material storage areas, following established procedures for the handling, movement, and storage of materials.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve inventory control, material flow, warehouse organization, and overall efficiency.
• Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for warehouse-related needs, shipments, deliveries, and material issues.
• Provide general onsite office coverage as needed, including answering and directing incoming calls, assisting or directing visitors, and routing deliveries, documents, and other incoming items to the appropriate individual or department.
• Communicate professionally with employees, customers, vendors, delivery personnel, and other business contacts.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support operational and business needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory, material handling, or a similar environment.
• Experience in the solar, roofing, electrical, construction, home improvement, or renewable energy industry strongly preferred.
• Experience reviewing project documentation, material lists, or similar information to identify material and equipment requirements preferred.
• Working knowledge of inventory management, material control, receiving, and warehouse procedures.
• Ability to use barcode scanners, inventory software, and basic computer systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and effectively manage inventory and material needs.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, identify and resolve issues, and take ownership of warehouse operations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with Operations and field personnel.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Forklift experience or certification is a plus; must be willing and able to obtain certification as required.
• Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work safely around solar, roofing, electrical, construction, and warehouse materials.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, and perform other physical activities associated with warehouse work.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment following appropriate training and authorization.
• Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor environments that may be subject to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
