Job summary

The Port of Virginia – Virginia Port Authority seeks an Assistant Manager, Warehousing & Inventory Control to oversee daily receiving, storage, and distribution of materials, parts, and supplies. This role ensures accurate location, timely distribution, and efficient warehouse operations.

You’ll lead the warehouse team, plan shifts, supervise performance, and coordinate with Maintenance & Repair to optimize workload while upholding safety, security, and records accuracy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and TWIC credential.
• Technical certification required.
• Four years of relevant experience with one year in a leadership capacity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to balance multiple initiatives while maintaining a high standard of performance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate work schedules; train and evaluate team performance.
• Lead shifts and provide direction; adjust plans as needed.
• Maintain safety and enforce compliance with rules and regulations.
• Monitor receiving, storage, and distribution of materials; maintain inventory records.
• Coordinate with Maintenance & Repair to plan workload and optimize tasks.
• Ensure security, records management, and proper disposal of public records.
