Job summary

J&J Snack Foods seeks a Freezer Warehouse Supervisor to oversee the full operation of the freezer warehouse, including 3 shifts, 3 supervisors, and 30+ employees. You will manage receiving, shipping, loading, palletizing and office functions while ensuring accurate documentation in the WMS and strict adherence to safety and quality programs.

The role requires supervision experience in a food-warehouse environment, familiarity with GMPs, HACCP and inventory systems, and strong leadership to drive

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years’ supervisory experience in Food Industry, Freezer Warehouse, Distribution and Operations.
• Experience with shipping/receiving practices.
• Proficiency in GMPs, Food Defense & Safety, HAACP, and Inventory Systems Management.
• Proficiency with PC/WMS tasks; Excel skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage 3 shifts and 30+ staff across receiving, shipping, loading, palletizing and office operations.
• Ensure proper loading of trucks and minimize shipping errors.
• Maintain accurate documentation and transactions in the WMS system.
• Enforce safety rules, GMPs, and food safety programs (FSP, SQF, GDPs).
• Conduct annual inventory and audits of shipments for quality and accuracy.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall efficient operation of the Freezer Warehouse. Efficiently manages freezer operations including 3 shifts (day, night and swing shift), 3 supervisors with up to 30 + employees, and the following processes: receiving and shipping, loading, palletizing, and office personnel, assuring that the trucks are loaded correctly, minimizing shipping errors while being efficient and ensuring all warehouse transactions are properly documented and transacted using WMS system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Enforces all company work procedures, safety rules, and company policies.
• Monitors and enforces all HACCP programs.
• Supervises personnel to ensure safety procedures are followed and selecting, packaging and loading of product for delivery to both customer and company facilities are completed efficiently.
• Ensure that freezers are stocked, labeled, cleaned, and deliver products in a timely manner , and proper customer service is provided.
• Ensure that all loads are shipped complete and in excellent condition.
• Ensures that freezers is kept clean, floors are swept, wood chips are swept up, snow and ice is not building up.
• Accountable for the security of inventory through system transaction / documentation, process and procedure verification, and system review.
• Conducts annual physical inventory.
• Audits incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Establishes cross training program for all freezer warehouse shifts.
• Trains and evaluates new employees.
• Motivates and disciplines employees, as needed.
• Researches all “ cuts ” and communicates shortages / discrepancies/ adjustments to inventory Supervisor and Distribution Manager.
• Conducts daily start-up meetings.
• Attends weekly scheduling meeting and other as directed by Distribution Manager.
• Monitors, reviews and approves employee time sheets on a daily basis.
• Provides weekly KPI reports (Inventory, On Time Shipping Performance, loading performance, picking performance and weekly production ) .
• Conduct performance reviews in a timely manner .
• Report all equipment failures to appropriate department and company .
• Enforces all company rules in a fair and consistent manner.
• Reports any food safety or quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate action.
• Follows J&J Snack Food’s all OSHA safety rules Food Safety Plan (FSP), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs ) and the Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
• Other duties as assigned.

FOOD QUALITY AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining food quality and safety within the plant.
• Food quality and safety issues must be reported to Quality Assurance Manager and or Distribution Manager.
• In the absence of the Quality Assurance or Distribution Manager, food quality and safety issues will be brought to the attention of the Plant Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Freezer/Cooler experience is a plus.
• Production and warehouse experience preferred.

Required Education:

High school diploma or GED. Post high school courses, AA, or BS in related fieldpreferred.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 4 years’ supervisory experience in Food Industry, Freezer Warehouse, Distribution, and Operations.
• Working knowledge of shipping/receiving practices.
• Must be knowledgeable in GMP’s, Food Defense & Safety, HAACP, and Inventory Systems Management.
• Requires computer skills using PC and WMS software to perform job duties. Proficiency in Excel is a plus.
• Familiarity with computerized and manual inventory practices.
• Good understanding of RF scanners and OSHA regulations relating to forklift operation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, sales personnel, and customers.
• Ability to calculate figures, and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, mass and volume.
• Works independently as well as across teams from fulfillment and manufacturing.
• Works with all department heads and attends management meetings.
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situation and documentation.
• Ability to manage small projects.

US Salary Pay Range

$70,304 - $80,000 USD
