Job summary

Ardagh Metal Packaging in California seeks a Shipping Industrial Truck Operator to drive forklifts, move product, and manage pallets in the warehouse and during truck loading/unloading.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate industrial forklift to transport materials within warehouse and trucks.
  • Move products to and from storage, pallets, docks, and machines.
  • Stack and unstack pallets of cans and rebuild pallets as needed.
  • Fill out forms, verify identifications, count/weigh materials.
  • Input and extract information in the computer system for paperwork.
  • Maintain housekeeping and follow loading procedures per customer requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on forklifts.
  • Communicate issues with incoming product and escalate as needed.

Job description

Purpose of the Job

The Shipping Industrial Truck Operator is responsible for maintaining and driving forklifts, moving product, equipment, or materials in the warehouse and in and out of trucks.

Key Accountabilities
  • Operate industrial truck to perform transporting assignments in designated locations according to prescribed methods.
  • Transport material to and from storage areas, warehouse, trucks, machines and loading docks.
  • Stacks and unstacks pallets of cans.
  • Rebuild pallets of cans, as needed.
  • Fills out forms, checks identification, counts and/or weighs materials.
  • Handles skids, pallets, chipboard, top frames, drums or other material.
  • Inputs and extracts information in computer system to generate appropriate paperwork.
  • Handles and dumps scrap, spoilage or trash.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance checks on industrial trucks.
  • Maintains the highest level of housekeeping in assigned areas.
  • Ability to understand and execute all loading procedures as they apply to each individual customer.
  • Ability to recognize defective product during loading and transportation process
  • Communicate issues with incoming product immediately and follow up
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Experience
  • Familiar with personal protective equipment.
  • Experience in manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to navigate computer-based programs.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Physical Demands
  • Able to stand for a long duration in excess of 8 hours.
  • Able to bend over and rotate body repeatedly.
  • Able to lift to 40 pounds.
  • Able to withstand heat, cold, vibrations, odors, fumes, and loud noise.
  • Able to climb stairs frequently.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, and use of foot pedals

Compensation

Upon hire, the starting hourly base for this role is $25.14 per hour. The company also offers a Success Share Bonus that is dependent on the plant meeting certain metrics and targets. Please note that the wage provided is a good faith estimate and is only applicable for California residents. The wage could be different for applicants who do not reside in California.
