Job summary

Ardagh Metal Packaging in California seeks a Shipping Industrial Truck Operator to operate forklifts and move cans and other materials within the warehouse and loading areas.

You will load and unload items, ensure Pallet integrity, and maintain accurate paperwork in the computer system. The role emphasizes safety, housekeeping, and adherence to loading procedures for each customer.

Qualifications

Overview

Shipping Industrial Truck Operator is responsible for maintaining and driving forklifts, moving product, equipment, or materials in the warehouse and in and out of trucks.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial truck to perform transporting assignments in designated locations according to prescribed methods.
• Transport material to and from storage areas, warehouse, trucks, machines and loading docks.
• Stack and unstack pallets of cans.
• Rebuild pallets of cans, as needed.
• Fill out forms, check identification, counts and/or weighs materials.
• Handle skids, pallets, chipboard, top frames, drums or other material.
• Input and extract information in computer system to generate appropriate paperwork.
• Handle and dump scrap, spoilage or trash.
• Perform prescribed preventative maintenance checks on industrial trucks.
• Maintain the highest level of housekeeping in assigned areas.
• Ability to understand and execute all loading procedures as they apply to each individual customer.
• Ability to recognize defective product during loading and transportation process.
• Communicate issues with incoming product immediately and follow up.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

• Familiar with personal protective equipment.
• Experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to navigate computer-based programs.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Physical Demands

• Able to stand for a long duration in excess of 8 hours.
• Able to bend over and rotate body repeatedly.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Able to withstand heat, cold, vibrations, odors, fumes, and loud noise.
• Able to climb stairs frequently.
• Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, and use of foot pedals.

Compensation and Benefits

Upon hire, the starting hourly base for this role is $25.14 per hour. The company also offers a Success Share Bonus that is dependent on the plant meeting certain metrics and targets. Please note that the wage provided is a good faith estimate and is only applicable for California residents. The wage could be different for applicants who do not reside in California.
