Job summary

Builders FirstSource, Inc. is hiring a Warehouse Foreman in Caldwell, ID. The role oversees receiving, storage, and loading of merchandise, and manages forklift-handling with safety training as needed.

You will supervise staff, ensure accuracy of inventory, and uphold safety standards in a outdoor/warehouse setting. You will coordinate periodic inventories, assign tasks for loading, and keep the work area organized while complying with safety procedures.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma with four years' experience coordinating yard/warehouse activities.
• Work is outdoors/warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise and dust.
• Must be able to lift 25 lb frequently and up to 80 lb occasionally.
• May involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and coordinates receiving of all incoming merchandise; ensures accurate counting, unloading and storage or distribution to proper location.
• Oversees safe and efficient handling of goods by forklift operators; ensures training and certification as needed.
• Oversees periodic inventory checks; prepares merchandise orders to meet stock requirements; maintains stock records for quick access.
• Checks invoices and assigns workers to load merchandise into customer vehicles with correct load.
• Performs similar work as other warehouse employees.
• Ensures warehouse areas are organized, clean and debris recycled or disposed; reports safety hazards and takes remedial action.
• Understands and observes safety procedures and oversees activities of staff to prevent injuries; attends safety meetings; may propose improvements.

• Oversees and coordinates receiving of all incoming merchandise; insures all merchandise is accurately and efficiently counted, documented, unloaded and stored or distributed to proper location.
• Oversees the safe and efficient handling of goods by employees operating forklifts or other machinery ensuring that employees receive the proper training and certification, if necessary.
• Oversees and coordinates periodic inventory checks; prepares merchandise orders to ensure that identified stock levels meet merchandising requirements at all times; maintains record keeping system to provide immediate access to current stock information when needed.
• Checks sales invoices and assigns yard or warehouse workers to assemble and load merchandise in customer’s vehicle, ensuring correct load building.
• Performs similar work as other warehouse employees.
• Ensures that warehouse areas are well organized kept neat and clean and scraps and warehouse debris are appropriately recycled or disposed; reports safety hazards and handles remedial action.
• Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices and oversees the activities of other employees in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and four (4) years experience performing and coordinating yard or warehousing activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment / Physical Activity:

• Work is performed primarily in an outdoor or warehouse environment, subject to variations in temperature and weather, equipment noise and dust.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
• May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
