Job summary

Mutual Trading Co., Inc. in Elk Grove Village, IL is hiring a delivery driver to complete door-to-door deliveries on an assigned route, pick and assemble orders, and verify deliveries with customers.

The role includes warehouse tasks, safety, and maintaining vehicle and paperwork, with weekend/after-hours potential; CDL A or B preferred; strong customer service required.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a valid driver''s license and clean driving record.
• 2+ years of driver, delivery, and/or warehousing experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of safe vehicle operation and warehouse safety.
• Basic level English for communication.

Responsibilities

• Complete door-to-door deliveries on assigned route.
• Pick and assemble orders as indicated on the pick list.
• Confirm accurate item delivery with customer and obtain customer signature on Sales Order.
• Receive customer payments at time of delivery, ensuring the correct amounts received.
• Stack and organize warehouse pallets.
• Assist receiving with unloading, stocking, and inventory checks.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the warehouse and inventory.
• Coordinate with salespersons to assemble urgent deliveries to customers.
• Maintain and safely navigate the Company vehicle per policy.

We've grown 100 years now and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as \"Culinary Ambassador\" promoting Japanese foods worldwide. Currently, we import, manufacture, and distribute over 8,000 Japanese foods, beverages, restaurant equipment and supplies.

Essential Job Functions:

• Complete door to door deliveries by driving company truck on assigned route.


• Pick and assemble orders as indicated on the pick list.


• Confirm accurate item delivery with customer and obtain customer signature on Sales Order.


• Receive customer payments at time of delivery, ensuring the correct amounts received.


• Stack and organize warehouse pallets.


• Document and complete driver logs accurately documenting returns and customer notes when making deliveries.


• Assist receiving with unloading, stocking, and inventory check in a timely manner.


• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the warehouse and inventory.


• Coordinate with salespersons to assemble urgent deliveries to customers.


• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent service.


• Maintain and safely navigate the Company vehicle as per the Company Vehicle Policy while maintaining quick reaction times on the road.


• Participate in the department meetings.


• Adhere to Company attendance policies and designated work schedule to keep consistent and reliable attendance.


• Attend Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.


• Attend semiannual inventory count on designated day, possibly on the weekend.


• Other duties as required by manager.


• Obligation to answer all management as requested.
  

Physical Requirements:

• Able to operate forklift for a majority of the daily working hours.


• Able to walk or stand for a majority of the daily working hours.


• Ability to talk, hear, climb, balance, reach, bend, kneel, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.


• Ability to handle and move up to 165 pounds assisted frequently.


• Specific vision abilities are required, including close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and maintain clarity.


• Working Conditions.


• Noise Level: Normal to loud while in the warehouse


• Location: Indoor in the warehouse or at customer sites (restaurants, wholesalers, distributors, etc) with travel required.


• Cold temperatures while working in warehouse and freezer
  

Other Requirements:

• Basic level English - Read/write/speak/listen.


• Maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.


• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and afterhours as needed.


• CDL class A or B license with manual transmission, or able to obtain it within four months from the hiring date.


• Be able to stay away from home, potentially for several days or weeks at a time.


• Knowledge of federal and state laws that regulate the road freight transport industry.


• Complying with truck driving rules and regulations


• Maintain a positive attitude.


• Able to work independently and as a team.


• Able to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload.


• High School diploma or equivalent work experience preferred.


• 2+ years of driver, delivery, and/or warehousing experience preferred.


• Experience in food industry, preferably in Japanese food industry is plus.


• Experience in Japanese restaurant business is a plus.
  

Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


• Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.


• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Knowledge of Japanese foods and liquors strongly preferred.


• Trusted and capable long-distance driver.


• Defensive driving skill.


• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and skills.


• Demonstrate awareness of proper warehouse safety procedures.
