Job summary

HireOn Tech is seeking a seasoned automation engineer to lead warehouse design and deployment of automation solutions across US sites. You will specify conveyors, sensors, robots, and control systems, coordinating with OEMs and internal teams to ensure successful implementation.

Responsibilities include capacity analysis, concept-to-commissioning delivery, and ongoing support post-deployment, including troubleshooting and optimization, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse design and automation solutions including ASRS, VNA, put-away/picking, and conveying systems.
• Hands-on application engineering and deployment of automation solutions.
• Knowledge of robots, cobots, AMRs/AGVs, and vision systems.
• Familiarity with advanced robotics technologies like ROS, haptics, teleoperation, and human-robot collaboration.
• Understanding of jumbo rolls/bags storage and packaging processes.
• Lean manufacturing concepts and value stream mapping.
• Ability to model and simulate scenarios and translate results into design actions.
• Understanding of controls engineering and plant IT systems (WMS/WES/WCS) for integration.
• Proven track record of delivering results and coordinating procurement, installation, and commissioning.
• Experience collaborating with OEM suppliers across US, Europe, and India.

Responsibilities

• Design and re-design warehouses including capacity calculations and technology selection.
• Create automation solutions for warehouse operations from concept to plant commissioning.
• Work with project managers, fabrication teams, and plant personnel to ensure safe, compliant designs.
• Define scope, cost estimates, and schedules; manage projects to meet commitments.
• Coordinate with suppliers for automation systems like conveyors, sensors, robots, AMRs, CO-BOTS.
• Track overall project status and support installation, commissioning, and handover at the customer site.
• Identify opportunities across the plant and propose proactive solutions (may require site visits).
• Provide technical support post-deployment including troubleshooting and snag rectification.

Job description

1. Possess good Experience in Warehouse Design and Automation Solutions like ASRS for VNA, Automation in Put-Away / Picking, Conveying systems etc.

2. Well versed with associated Technologies like Robots/Cobots, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), AGV / Vision System etc.

3. Hands on experience in application engineering as well as development and deployment of Converting line Automation Solutions that are custom engineered or leveraging AGVs/AMRs/Cobots / Vision Systems etc.

4. Knowledge on Advanced Robotics Technologies like Haptics, Teleoperation, Human-Robot Collaboration, Voice Commanding of Robots, Exoskeletons, Robotic Operating System, AMR / AGV Fleet Manager etc

5. Converting Domain Knowledge – Good understanding of the practices of jumbo rolls storage & retrieval, Jumbo Bags storage and handling, & packaging (Primary / Secondary / Tertiary)

6. Knowledge on lean manufacturing concept, value stream mapping and focus on continuous improvement.

7. Knowledge on Advanced Modeling and Simulation to the extent of providing the right inputs to the Modeling and Simulation SMEs, providing inputs on various What-If Scenarios, Ability to interpret the Simulation Results and take corrective action in the Design

8. Understanding of Controls Engineering / Plant IT Systems / Enterprise systems like WMS / WES / WCS to the extent of the integration requirements.

9. Drives results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.

10. Facilitating Equipment/Capital Procurement - Selects appropriate Robot equipment & associated systems (like Conveyor, Sensors, PLC, HMI etc.) which meets the Customer manufacturing specifications and meets program needs.

11. Managing Installation & Commissioning collaborating with Installation & Commissioning contractors

1. Responsible for

o Warehouse design / re-design including capacity calculations, various Warehouse specific technology selection etc

o Designing Automation Solutions for Warehouse Operations from initial concept through plant commissioning

o working closely with project managers, fabrication teams, and plant personnel.

o Implementing design solutions that meet stringent safety requirements established by customer and applicable regulatory bodies.

o Clearly defining scope, cost estimates, schedules

o Active project management to meet the commitments on scope, cost and schedules

2. Work closely with identified OEM suppliers based out of US, Europe & India for the supply of automation systems like conveyors, sensors, alarm systems, Robots, AMRs, COBOTs etc.

3. Track the over all project status.

4. Work closely with Plant IT wherever required

5. Organize & Schedules weekly calls with Customer, suppliers & TCS Offshore team

6. Manage & Support Installation / Commissioning and final handover at Customer site

7. Study new opportunities across various areas within the plant and propose solutions proactively (may need to visit other sites).

8. Provide technical support to customer technicians/ engineers after the successful deployment of the solution like trouble shooting, snag rectification etc.
