Join our friendly, collaborative, and hardworking facilities team, reporting to the Associate Director of Facilities.

The Warehouse Custodian is responsible for ensuring that the interior of the warehouse and exterior meet standard of cleanliness and are well maintained.

Who We Are:

The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank’s mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin counties. We envision a community free of the root causes of hunger, where everyone has access to nutritious food of their choosing and is uplifted by a network of support.

Together with more than 300 community partners, we work to address hunger head-on through a coordinated network of neighborhood food pantries, CalFresh enrollment, home‑delivered groceries, and policy and advocacy efforts. We work with our community to provide food for people facing hunger today while working to end the hunger of tomorrow. This fiscal year, we are serving 36,000 households per week. What You Would Be Accountable for:

The Warehouse Custodian will be responsible for the following key pieces of work:

  • Inspect the facility daily to identify areas requiring special cleaning or requiring maintenance.
  • Complete projects requiring special attention in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleaning supply inventory.
  • Maintain daily recycling.
  • Keep supplies and equipment in an orderly fashion and properly maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Would Be Doing Right Now:
Daily Sanitation Tasks
  • Clean, mop, and disinfect restrooms and showers
  • Empty trash, compost, and recycling bins throughout the warehouse
  • Mop breakroom floors
  • Clean and sweep warehouse aisles and accessible racking areas
  • Maintain cleanliness at receiving and shipping docks
  • Clean around compactors and shop floor
  • Sweep and maintain Freezers Y and Z, and the cooler
Weekly Sanitation Tasks
  • Clean and mop dock plates
  • Pick up trash around the building exterior
  • Wipe down battery chargers
  • Clean sit‑down and stand‑up forklifts
  • Dust rails throughout warehouse
  • Sweep dock/truck pits outside
  • Clean the IDF and water pump room
  • Power wash waste bins (trash, compost, recycling)
  • Clean SFP and Repack Rooms
  • Clean and maintain Van Lot: empty waste bins and remove litter
  • Perform inventory of custodial supplies
What Else You Should Know:
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Handyman experience preferred.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

SALARY

The position is full‑time non‑exempt. The starting salary for this position ranges from $22.49‑23.18, with exact salary depending on experience.
