Job summary

Farwest Steel Corporation in the Western United States is seeking a Warehouse Crane operator to support metal processing equipment by loading, unloading, moving, and storing materials in a busy warehouse. The role emphasizes safety, timely workflow, and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities include crane operation, material staging, shift handoffs, and occasional back-up for other positions. Requires a high school diploma or GED, English literacy, a valid driver’s license, and experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 12 months' experience as a warehouse worker or crane operator.
• Ability to read and write in English; follow written instructions.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Operate overhead cranes and related attachments; use forklift when needed.

• Occasionally operate forklift or railcar mover.
• Adhere to attendance standards and work in warehouse with varying weather conditions.

About This Position

Job Type: Full Time, Onsite

Schedule: Swing Shift, Mon. to Fri. 2:30pm - 11:00pm

Wage: $19.25 to $30.00 per hour, DOE

Position Purpose: To operate the crane to support the metal processing equipment, move, unload, load, and store materials in warehouse while following all safety policies and procedures. This position is very important in making sure that the work flows through the shop at a steady and timely pace.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all safety policies and procedures to assure safe effective and efficient work tasks.
• Operate overhead crane to load or unload railcars, trailers, customer’s vehicles, etc.
• Keep machine operators supplied with proper steel & pull/stage for next shift.
• Perform weekly and monthly assigned preventative maintenance tasks
• Will perform clean up duties daily to maintain safe work area.
• Will occasionally be requested to work other positions as backup for vacation/sick coverage.
• Will operate forklift or railcar mover occasionally.
• Compliance with general company attendance standards is acceptable.
• Will be working in warehouse setting with some daily exposure to weather conditions (cold, wet, hot).
• Continuous mental and/or visual attention to work tasks is required to monitor the production process, attend to safety conditions, operate required vehicles, etc.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Warehouseman/Crane operator training or prior experience of at least 12 months.
• Basic understanding of warehouse functions and equipment operation.
• Reliable, be ready to work on time daily.
• Ability to work in a team environment with others in our company and treat our employees and customers with respect, courtesy and tact.
• Ability to read and write in English to follow written instructions and record work activities performed.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Both Overhead cranes & Bushman attachments, Company computer applications & e-mail, forklift, railcar mover.
• Perform routine office support, understand written and oral instruction, make mathematical calculations.
