$16.71 per hour

The Warehouse/Commissary Worker assists with all aspects of the warehouse and/or commissary functions, including working with and directing teams of inmate/resident workers. Responsibilities include receiving, storing, and inventorying stock, supplies, and equipment used in commissary and facility operations.

  • Under the direction of the supervisor, performs accurate and timely receipt, routing, and storage of goods and cleaning chemicals, adhering to sanitation standards and applicable codes. Prepares materials for shipment as required.
  • Conducts commissary sales transactions, processes inmate/resident order forms, performs data entry, verifies, and delivers pulled orders to the appropriate inmate/resident.
  • Maintains up-to-date inventories of all furniture, equipment, and supplies. Monitors commissary goods for sale to maintain minimum and maximum inventory levels.
  • Prepares various records and reports accurately and promptly. Organizes files with proper sorting, labeling, and retrieval, while maintaining confidentiality and security.
  • Communicates effectively with administration, staff, inmates/residents, and visitors, demonstrating tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, and good judgment. Provides information, instructions, and directions in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Conducts counts of inmates/residents working in the area, controls access to equipment and supplies, and prevents contraband entry through proper search procedures.
  • Supervises and directs assigned inmates/residents, escorts them, or coordinates their movement within the facility.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in warehouse/commissary operations preferred.
  • Ability to operate hand trucks, forklifts, and/or pallet jacks.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum age: 18 years old.
