Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Warehouse/Commissary Worker to support warehouse and commissary operations in a secure facility. The role involves receiving, storing and inventorying stock, processing inmate orders, data entry and maintaining records.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, at least 21 years old, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate hand trucks, forklifts and pallet jacks. Experience in warehousing is preferred and the work is performed on site.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.
• One year of experience in warehouse/commissary operation, including the physical control and movement of inventory is preferred.
• Must be able to operate hand truck, forklift and/or pallet jacks.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Receives, stores and inventories stock, supplies and equipment used in commissary and facility operations.
• Under the direction of the supervisor, performs accurate receipt, routing and storage of goods and cleaning chemicals received in accordance with sanitation standards and codes; prepares materials for shipment.
• Conducts commissary sales transactions, processing inmate/resident order forms, performs data entry, verifies and delivers pulled orders to inmates.
• Maintains up-to-date facility and warehouse inventories of all furniture, equipment and supplies; monitors commissary goods for sale and stock levels.
• Accurately and timely prepares a variety of records and reports; creates and maintains files; maintains confidentiality and security of records.
• Communicates effectively with administration, staff, inmates/residents, and visitors; provides information and directions per policy.
• Counts inmates/residents working in the area, controls access to equipment and supplies, and prevents contraband through proper search procedures.
• Provides supervision and direction for assigned inmates/residents in the performance of their duties and escorts inmates/residents or coordinates their movement.
