Description
Hill International Trucks, the tri-state area's leading medium- and heavy-duty truck and trailer dealership, is currently looking for a warehouse clerk & parts counter trainee. This position verifies all incoming orders, completes stocking duties, separates and invoices customer orders, completes interbranch transfers, and prepares parts for shipment while training on parts counter sales. This is a fast-paced, high-volume position.
This job works out of the Eighty-Four, PA location.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify all incoming and occasional outgoing shipments and verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records and check packages for damages prior to signing BOL. Once packing slips are processed by Inventory Control verify correct parts are received and put stock items in correct storage locations. Place customer parts on proper Driver’s shelf or place in Will Call.
- Prepare Interbranch orders for shipment every morning and afternoon. Receive Interbranch orders into inventory.
- Check in and put away incoming stock order shipments.
- Manage No Location Bin. Ensure that it is kept empty and assign locations when needed.
- Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Affix shipping label on packed cartons, or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons.
- Maintain wooden skids, cardboard containers, or select pre-assembled containers for shipments.
- Insert items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding to guard against damages.
- Nail covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal tape or strapping machine.
- Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
- Assist in annual inventory preparation and execution.
- Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments, recording damaged items, shortages, and correspond information with shipper.
- Ensure that outgoing shipments meet all safety and securement specifications.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Assist all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Inform customers of companion part requirements and specials and ensure that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
- Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
- Review body shop estimates to ensure the parts that are ordered are correct and all pricing is in line with the estimate.
- Provide a high level of service to internal and external customers.
- Pull and fill orders from stock.
- Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
- Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submit an emergency order, if necessary.
- Notify the service advisor and the customer when special ordered parts have been received.
- Notify the body shop when all parts have arrived and when they will be delivered.
- Pull orders for delivery to body shop, making sure all parts are tagged with customer names and job numbers.
- Follow up on back-ordered parts.
- Verify will-call and back-order files weekly and return to vendors, or stock those items not picked up or required.
- Replenish assigned inventory daily.
- Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
- Make sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair orders.
- Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
- Ensure that all charge sales are signed by the customer.
- Ensure that all customers receive their copy of the invoice.
- Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.
- Issue and track requested shop tools to technicians.
- Keep orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts.
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Solicit assigned accounts by phone.
- Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
- Clean computer terminals and printers daily.
- Participate in all training programs that are made available.
- Keep current on new products and product updates.
- Participate with the parts manager in maintaining a lost sales tracking program.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Requires standing for long periods.
- Requires performing accurate, knowledgeable detailed work.
- Occasional use of hands for repetitive motion.
- Required frequent lifting of objects 5 to 50 pounds.
- Occasional lifting of objects over 50 pounds.
- Frequent telephone use.
- Must be able to communicate and work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Occasionally exposed to engine exhaust fumes.
- Works overtime as required.
HOURS:
Monday- Friday 6am-6pm, with 1-hour unpaid lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma.
- One-year experience in a warehouse position preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to interpret vendor catalogs.
- Ability to use parts department computer system, calculator, motor vehicle, forklift, and hand trucks.
- Ability to use mechanical tools such as crimpers, cutters, pliers, wrenches, and tape measure.
