Job Summary
This position serves our customers by hand-building pallets of product and loading product onto trailers according to established company and customer standards.
Responsibilities
- Read pick sheets and travel to proper warehouse locations using a pallet jack.
- Picks proper product type and quantity, labels products, and places on a pallet; loads the pallet on trucks according to proper zone, location, and standards.
- Handle products and build pallets following food safety procedures, including visual inspection for damages and proper placement to minimize cross-contamination.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety, address spills or damages, and dispose of trash properly.
- Communicate with management regarding issues like product shortages, safety concerns, or food safety.
- Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners) safely and report issues.
- Complete paperwork and use wearable computers for tracking productivity.
- Work scheduled hours reliably and perform overtime as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
Experience
- 6 months warehouse experience preferred or equivalent work experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Forklift and pallet jack certification preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of safe lifting procedures and food safety guidelines.
- Skill in building pallets quickly, accurately, and safely.
- Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack in tight spaces.
- Meet productivity standards.
- Effective communication in English.
- Basic math skills.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Wear personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes).
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, handle objects, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
- Lift/move up to 50-90 pounds regularly.
- Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work Environment
- Exposure to hot, cold, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise.
