Warehouse Associate Backup Driver

Location: Vicksburg, MS

Job type: Full time

What You’ll Do

As a warehouse associate backup driver, you’re key to driving a great customer experience by getting products from our warehouse to our customers. You’ll complete local deliveries, calling our customers when you arrive and helping them unload. As the face of our company, you build relationships with customers who count on you.

You will…

1. Ensure good customer relations through consistent on-time deliveries and acting in a courteous and professional manner.
2. Transport and deliver goods in a timely manner.
3. Pick material for orders, load material, and manifest ship tickets.
4. Properly and safely secure loads and assure loads are within vehicle weight.
5. Verify count and condition of freight.
6. Make reports of overages, shortages and damages as needed.
7. Prepare receipts for the load pickup or delivery.
8. Collect payments for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
9. Maintain telephone or radio contact with manager to receive delivery instructions.
10. Fuel truck and gather or restock any material needed to perform daily duties at the end of every day or shift.
11. When there are no deliveries to be made, perform warehouse duties.
12. Clean and maintain work areas.
13. Responsible for quality control. No damaged product is sent out or accepted in.
14. Adhere to all processes.

What You Bring

Requirements:

1. Valid driver’s license meeting Crawford requirements.
2. Ability to obtain and pass a DOT physical.
3. Six months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
5. High school diploma or equivalent.
6. PIT proficiency; reach truck, order picker, “sit down” propane. Current certification a plus.
7. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and handling small parts.
8. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Vehicle Operation

1. Operate company vehicle in a safe manner and compliant with all State and federal DOT standards and regulations.
2. Report any vehicle problems and defects.
3. Operate MHE safely and efficiently as required.
4. Report vehicle accidents/incidents immediately to management.
5. Maintain a truck log according to State and Federal regulations.
6. Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water, and maintain a clean vehicle.
7. Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains and spark plugs.

Preferred, but not required:

1. 1 year of related experience and/or training.
