Job summary

Whelen Engineering is seeking a Warehouse Associate for the 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM) at the Chester, CT facility. Responsibilities include receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping support with RF scanning and light equipment operation to ensure efficient distribution.

The role requires basic computer literacy and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; English communication is essential. Prior warehouse experience is not required, and training is provided as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform warehousing and distribution tasks following established procedures.

• Maintain accurate counts using scales, calculators and other devices.
• Operate WAVE and JLG lifts; may be trained to use forklift.
• Keep kit holding and storage areas organized.

Description

Job Title: Warehouse Associate

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Second Shift 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Facility location: Chester, CT

Summary: Performs all warehousing functions required to fulfill warehousing and distribution operations at a facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Applies simple and some intermediate skills to perform functions in the execution of existing procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to the position within assigned area
• Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels
• Able to prioritize work according to established guidelines
• Adapts to changing priorities to meet customer demands
• Simple computer literacy
• Receives and processes delivery and storage of all parts from received from divisional receipts, vendor receipts, subcontractor receipts, and small package receipts
• Assist in maintaining the proper storage of parts
• Uses RF Scanner device (barcode reader) to pull products from warehouse
• Uses proper packing materials and methods to move parts
• Transports kits to the assembly area as directed
• Maintains kit holding area
• Works with scales, calculators, and other devices to make sure production counts are accurate
• Operates WAVE and JLG lifts, electrical jacks, and other equipment used to move product
• Will be on WAVE and JLG lift up to 20 feet in the air at times
• May be trained to use forklift

Scope

• Entry-level job with little or no prior relevant experience
• Work is prescribed and completed with close supervision and little autonomy

Physical demands and abilities

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Regularly performs repetitive tasks (picking up items, putting down items, turning, twisting, bending, reaching, and stepping onto and off of a lift (18” from ground level)
• Able to stand entire shift
• Able to continuously walk throughout the warehouse floor (can be up to 4-5 miles of walking per shift)
• Regularly possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
