Position Summary
Warehouse Associate responsible for following established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, stock, store, record, and dispatch goods in a warehouse or distribution center.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete shipments by processing and loading orders; read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Unload received goods and unpack bales, crates, and other containers; check for damage and discrepancies between goods and invoices; install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit from truck to warehouse or shelving.
- Accurately sort, label, move, and store goods and merchandise; place material or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, or product codes.
- Weigh or count items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Prepare, pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods and merchandise according to written or verbal requests or work orders; use pick sheets to locate items; remove products from shelves and place on pallets using pallet jack or forklift, following stacking policies to prevent product damage; verify product and quantity accuracy.
- Load trucks for customer delivery; install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage; check for damage and discrepancies between goods and shipping work order.
- Consolidate freight for shipping as appropriate; verify shipping method; handle and communicate oversize loads to freight carriers; ensure shipping routes are maintained.
- Enter data into a database or other computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records; retrieve stored information to respond to inquiries such as inventory levels or delivery schedules; document discrepancies on an error log and seek management advice on appropriate corrective action.
- Comply with tickets or worksheets from customer specifications.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, cherry‑picker lifts, pallet jacks, or other machinery as needed.
- Assist in inventory level maintenance and inventory counts.
- Follow warehouse safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent coupled with 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.
- Experience or aptitude in loading, unloading, picking, packing, or moving goods in a warehouse environment; forklift/cherry picker experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency; preferred technical skills include MS Office, Vista, Control, SX.e, and Prophet 21.
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percent calculation).
- Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence.
- Team‑oriented and self‑motivated to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
- Attention to detail and safety‑mindful.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work environment may not be temperature controlled; must work in extreme hot or cold conditions.
- Must work in dusty conditions.
- May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear protective equipment such as shoes, gloves, and eye protection.
- May need to pass forklift and/or other warehouse equipment certifications.
- Shifts may vary and/or rotate; overtime, extended day, evening, and weekend work may be required with little to no advanced notice.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs or more with assistance; regularly stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.
- Must have adequate vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception).
