The Country Store seeks a part-time retail associate for their Spokane Valley location. The role entails engaging customers, assisting with orders, maintaining stock, and ensuring a clean working environment. The Country Store is the retail division of Skagit Farmers Supply, a diversified local agricultural supply cooperative. The company was founded in Burlington, WA in 1934. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Greet and interact with customers.
• Consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
• Assist with customers’ orders by loading and unloading products as needed.
• Maintain product stock in the store and warehouse.
• Assemble products and displays.
• Deliver products to customer delivery points.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment (delivery truck, forklift, etc.) and facilities.
• Dispense propane and kerosene.
• Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Safely and regularly operate a vehicle to make deliveries, visit various worksites, other businesses or customer locations.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
• Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
• Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record.
• Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods; walk, bend, stoop and kneel frequently
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 60 pounds.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards.
• Proven track record of being dependable and reliable.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working in a retail setting.
• Product knowledge in one or more of the following areas: feed, seed, pet food & supplies, hardware, fencing, animal health, tack, clothing & footwear, lawn & garden or wild bird supplies.
• Experience dispensing propane cylinders.
• Experience safely operating pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
SCHEDULE
This is a part-time position; 16 – 32 hours per week (schedule may vary). Sunday through Saturday. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
16.80 – $19.80/hour. In addition to generous employee discounts, the company offers medical benefits to part-time employees upon meeting eligibility requirements. Employees may also participate in the company’s 401(k) plan after meeting eligibility requirements.
